The right to development in Africa is both urgent and mandatory. As this book points out, the components of this right include: fostering respect for the rule of law, defeating corruption, tapping into African cultures and philosophies, advancing gender justice, and promoting the right to education. Fostering the rule of law/constitutionalism/governance for the realisation of the right to development in Africa as articulated in article 22 of the African charter.
