Who am I?

People talking shop about Literature, people saying this, people saying that, people believing that Literature is only the novel , and with Pa Achebe as the father or grandfather of the Naija novel one wonders who is the grandmother? That Literature is only the shorti story and some Chidi poetry, yet some people don't realise that Soyinka is first and foremost a dramatist - like Shakespeare - and that prior to being awarded the Nobel Prize in 1986 he had won all the literary and drama prizes that were to be won in the UK & Commonwealth – and that includes Ireland. Nor do some people realise how much Brer Soyinka loves Stockholm and that The Drottningholm Palace Theatre is one of Brer Soyinka's favourite theatre venues.
Can anyone imagine what happened with Soyinka in Stockholm happening with Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan?

I told her how much Mr. Soyinka loves Stockholm when I phoned the Stockholm library yesterday, to complain that although when I phoned to reserve a place for our Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka's lecture I was told that it was “ fully booked “, yet, as we can see, when he walks into the room to take his seat and to deliver the lecture, the place is visibly almost half empty. You must have also noticed the look of consternation, disbelief, disappointment written on Brother Soyinka's face and only Heaven knows what was going on in his mind at that moment and several moments after he noticed that it was far from being a packed house. Did he think that he was – for some strange reason , being boycotted or what? The librarian that I spoke to said that she had not been there at the lecture but had been told about it - was herself surprised and that she regretted to say that a good number of people who had reserved their seats eventually did not turn up – maybe because when it's free people make reservations and then don't turn up. Should they charge an entrance fee? It was not their ( Stockholm library) culture policy :”It's the public library policy that the programmes should and ought to be free”, she said , “and worst of all is that Mr. Soyinka was disappointed.” Shouldn't they have hosted Soyinka at the International Writers Stage - a much bigger venue where they usually host the International writers of repute and where I have listened to Chigozie Obioma , Ngugi Wa Thiong'O, David Grossman , Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie , Amos Oz , and many others
Bottom line: We are advised to turn up anyway, even if they say the free event is “fully booked” , because some people are sure to not show up. Has it ever occurred to you that that's the message that Nigerian pastors have, that hell is “fully booked” - the ultimate destination of the lootocracy, Lady Shakara, Abu Bakara and his shadow cabinet of 400 thieves, mega 419ers, the corrupt elite .

What truth claims does he have? Is he capable of speaking the truth? The truth to power? We should not mind mealy-mouthed Oluwatoyin and his cowardly, roundabout way of going about it, his speaking in tongues , his overdrive, hyperbole, tautology, extremism, bigotry, vilification of others. What he doesn't know up to this moment is that in the end the disease known as Islamophobia and the terrorism he likes to preach against may well kill him, kill him well well and drink his blood like wine at a time “When men will beg God to kill them and they won't be able to die.”
Those whom he loves to condemn as “defender of evil” could crown him with the title “Defender of the Faith” - King Oluwatyoyin Vincent Adepoju 1 of Hades which he could accept, even if it sounds ridiculous. On the other hand he should be pleased with Prince Charles giving greater latitude to the title, by changing it to “ Defender of Faith” for which and for other reasons such as his 1993 lecture on Islam and the West at Oxford and various other lectures on Islam at Oxford which have caused some people to be asking the question, is Prince Charles a Muslim ?
Adepoju should be happy that he is at least enjoying some freedom of speech in Nigeria to the extent that he can refer to the President of Nigeria and his rival Abubakar Atiku as “Ethnic Supremacist Terrorism Enablers” without being beheaded. No doubt he is thanking his Ifa priest and priestess that he is not a citizen of Saudi Arabia making such an atrocious statement about his head of state without in which case he would have been dispatched or been disappeared to an uncertain future just like Jamal Khashoggi so that in secret , the perpetrator says just like Lady Macbeth, "All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand."

Unlike Dr. Aliyu U. Since the assassination of anybody is supposed to have consequences, I leave it to you to imagine what the consequences would have been if it was a Palestinian terrorist and not a Jewish right-wing ultra-nationalist Yigal Amir that had assassinated Yitzhak Rabin – or if it was an African immigrant (God forbid) that had assassinated Sweden's Olof Palme or Anna Lindh. Since like Haman so too Boko Haram is the anguished mantra and curse-word of the victims, mourners, concerned Nigerian citizens and friends alike, the link to the Yar'adua probe below about the assassination of the Boko Haram founder and leader Mohammed Yusuf by all accounts a good man and a good Muslim, good and helpful to his community – is not the absolute genesis of the problem but evidently perhaps the straw that broke the camel's back as some wanton assassinations do and are supposed to have dire consequences. Under his leadership Boko Haram was after all peacefully and peaceably engaged in providing beneficial social services and self-help in education, food production, small scale medical and health services in the various communities in which they operated. But you kill their leader - murder – you throw many of their members into your dangerous prison dungeons and torture chambers , you destroy and devastate the viable communities and households that they have slowly and so patiently ( sabr) succeeded in building over many years – and you expect to be rewarded with the kind peace and tranquillity that will not result when you are supposed to totally submit, not to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala but to a murderous Nigerian military that wants to annihilate you.
