Our major problem in Nigeria is that fringe characters  occupy major leadership positions in the most important spheres, namely; politics, religion and culture.

Poetry is not some kind of esoteric endeavour. If one puts in more efforts and time, over time, one would achieve some level of proficiency.

Can poetry learnt? Are poets born? Does the Muse minister to some and leave some to pursue non-poetic endeavors?

Is Oga Chidi's statement addressed to poets and non-poets?

Beyond Artificial Intelligence: Contemplations, Expectations, …

Is this prescriptive? Is Chidi talking to himself and for himself or is he encouraging and consoling others, advising patience and dedication to the art of poetry or is it a science, like engineering ?

Arthur Koestler :“The sleeper producing a Freudian dream, in which a broomstick represents a phallus, has made an optical pun: he has connected a single visual form with two different functional contexts. The same technique is employed by the caricaturist who equates a nose with a cucumber, the discoverer who sees a molecule as a snake, the poet who compares a lip to a coral. When Jean Cocteau underwent a drug-withdrawal cure, he drew human figures constructed out of long, thin stalks of opium pipes. William Harvey, watching the exposed heart-valve at work in a living fish, suddenly visualised it as a pump – but the analogy between the gory mess he actually saw and the neat metallic gadget existed in his mind's eye only.

These, however are dramatic examples: As a rule, visual imagery does not work in such a fashion. The visualizer rather feels his way around a problem and strokes it with his eye, as it were....” Arthur Koestler ; The Act of Creation

If literature must enrich the present and the future, it must sometimes take a trip to the past.

Chidi is not necessarily talking about great poets., gold silver, bronze, brass, rass....

I recently downloaded “Poet assistant” but it turned out to be a bit of crap.

The last line of the sonnet “Loving in truth

sounds more like the real thing:"Fool," said my Muse to me, "look in thy heart, and write."

There are writers and there are writers. There are those who record mundane happenings, perhaps in beautiful prose, drama or poetry and maybe win awards. There are those who propound great immortal ideas in their writings.

It's either that Jolly Nyame, the former Taraba state Governor recently jailed for fraud did Anot have money to buy favourable judgment or that some powerful persons want him to go to jail. The hands of the Nigerian Judiciary are always tied.

Was the Nigerian "not too young to run" bill(now law) cited as amendment to sections of the constitution prescribing ages for electoral contests? If not, then it is null and void to the extent of the apparent inconsistencies.

I just saw the "not too young to run" law. It was cited as constitution "alteration" blah blah blah, but was it passed as constitution amendment act, which would have entailed the 36 States Houses of Assembly also endorsing the act?

Bola Tinubu and his fellow progressives would ironically commemorate "June 12" this year, against the background of  President Buhari's apotheosis of Abacha.

Can someone become President under Nigerian laws without first, personally, talking the oath of office? Is winning election the only requirement for being President?
