Kobe Bryant, a NBA and two - time Olympic champion, was determined to change the lives of many members of his community, through the sport that he loved and dominated, basketball. He became its true ambassador, in his post - retirement era and an ardent champion of Women’s Basketball as well.
His 13 year old daughter, Gianna, who passed away with her dad and another 13 year old player and her parents - in this dastardly accident that killed nine people - was also a rising star in the sport, following in the footsteps of her great father. The Sikorsky S- 76B helicopter robbed us of a potentially great female basketball player.
Kobe, father of four, became a global icon and was probably second to none- except Michael Jordan and LeBron, in the history of the game.
May the souls of the nine accident victims find peace. We mourn their untimely passing.
