Dear Colleagues my name is Anna Catalani and I am an academic based at the University of Lincoln. I am writing a short piece on traditional Yoruba objects and I am referring to a Yoruba collection (dated 1858) housed in the Brewhouse Yard Museum in Nottingham, which includes primarily ritual objects. I would like to ask if any of you could help me with the following:
1. explain the difference between a Yoruba shrine and a temple
2. confirm that the objects I am considering for this piece belong to a shrine.
3. the Yoruba names of the objects
I can send the pictures I took of these objects while doing my Ph.D.
I am grateful for any help you can provide.
Kind regards
Anna Catalani

Superb.

You can also contact Rowland' Abiodun and Henry Drewal, who have done substantial work on Yoruba shrines.

A brief Google search will provide their email addresses.

Thanks

Toyin.
