Dear

It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news that our brother and friend Dr Valentine left us to join our ancestors after a protracted illness.

May his soul rest in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

More info will follow as soon as they
are received.

Life is brief, indeed too brief to fathom.

Bye

I want to correct Nebu. When a person dies, his soul returns to His Maker and that is in the Quran and Bible. Please do not distort the truth.
I too used to read Tony Egbe's blog contributions and I vividly recall some brief exchanges between I and him, though not in animosity.

I commiserate with the families left behind by Messrs. Otitigbe and Ojo. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

I also don't think this is a time to pontificate about where a person's soul will find repose!

These deaths, serve to sober me up and perhaps bring into sharper focus the transient nature of life. Therefore, I extend an olive branch to Afis and publicly announce that I do not wish you any evil. I will henceforth take any abuse without uttering a word in response.

I will continue to miss Dr. Ojo. However, it will be most unreasonable to pray for commitment of his soul to Jesus Christ because, while Val lived, he never believed in the Almighty God. Indeed he was a thorn all over the flesh of the Saints of God --he was particularly brutal on Evangelist, Noyo Edem.

So, where exactly is Val's soul heading? The Holy Bible is clear on that question, and there is no amount of prayers that will make the Almighty God to reward Val Ojo for what he never believed in or worked for, while he had the opportunity to accept Christ as his Lord and savior. Unless he repented and accepted Christ in his last days or even minutes with humanity.

While what I have said may sound ridiculous and perhaps insensitive, especially at this difficult time for Val's family, it remains a fact and a useful warning to those who have been condemning Christianity --like Val was fond of doing while had breath. It is particularly a useful warning to Mazi Nebu Adiele --Mister "reject religion, revive reasoning." He has the opportunity now to accept Christ as his savior. He should not blow it.

Cheers to facts,

Collins Ezebuihe.

Learning of Dr Valentine Ojo's transition so soon after that of Tony Egbe had a similar sobering effect on me.

Twice I wanted to type the words Dr Valentine Ojo but on both
attempts I subconsciously ommited
Ojo - his last name. Even though I proof read the short message twice
I could not detect the omissions.

The numerous roforofo arguments both long before and after I was appointed to be Chairman of Dr Ojo's 2015 Presidential Campaign flashed thorough my mind briefly. Could any one of us have guessed that Dr Valentine Ojo would not live long enough to see 2015?

The question of what life truly about when it could be cut short at any moment remains a constant riddle for all mankind.

May the souls of
of Tony Egbe and Valentine Ojo rest in perfect peace.

Tony Egbe was the quintessential patriotic Nigerian who regaled us all with his often bonded or capitalized opinions on all issues Nigerian.

Your decision to declarea truce with Afis is a classy move. I pray that Afis will return your magnanimous gesture
with a similar one.

Finally the Yoruba proverb:

"Iku ti on pa oju ba as no on or owe fun wa"

Translation: The death of any human being especially one of the same age group only serves to remind us of our own mortality.

Colly: Dr Ojo always emphasized the point that the simple fact that he was not a Christian did not mean that he was an atheist. I believe that he found a way if communing with the Almighty God the same way all other human beings who do not practice any one if the major religions do every day of their lives.

Dr Ojo's soul is probably resting in peace along with the billions of other human beings who had lived and died before Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohamad was born and those if our African ancestors who lived and died before Christianity and Islam came to our shores.

Ditto the souls of the billions of Chinese, Indians and Russians and other non-Christians who have lived and died without being exposed to Christianity.

Bye,

Ola

wow...wow!
I woke up this morning to this sad news about our friend!
Val again after Tony....he's been away for so long.
Yesterday I attended a convention where we were shown a video about how the Resurrection hope could be a source of comfort at the loss of a dear one.
Majority of the 150,000 people in the audience had tear in the eyes at the end video for we all must have experienced the loss of a loved one.
May the God of all comfort who comforts us in our tribulations be with the families and friends of Val and Tony so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Thanks Onifade. Collins was being judgemental. This is unnecessary. Commiserating with family, friends and associates is enough mocking their loss. Dr Ojo is one of a kind that want the improvement of his country. He expresses this in most of his posts. This forum has lost someone that never hesitated to express his view on issues. My condolence to all who feels that a gap has been created by his passage.

Rest in peace, Dr Valentine Ojo! Although we may not all agree with him all of the time, he was passionate about Nigeria and our traditions. I'll surely miss him! A good Nigerian has left us to join our ancestors! May his road be smooth!

So sad indeed! What a man he was - from the beginning to the end! According to his personal testimony, Dr. Valentine Ojo trained early in life as a priest and found a loophole in what he called "the hypocrisy of religiosity" and so kicked against it. Yet, anyone who has had a one-on-one conversation with him would soon know how religious he was. He encouraged his family to keep up with their faith but stayed away from active participation except for recreational and educational purposes. He was blunt but sincere, sounded like a bully but jelly in the heart; the man roared like a lion but acted like a sheep. The wife said there will be a service on Saturday at their local church and will let us all know the details as events unfold. So sorry to hear - that was one interesting agent provocateur silenced so soon. It would forever be a loud silence! May those he left behind be comforted!

Kola,

Otitigbe is not dead. He is busy looking after the pants of Argentine girls of Italian extraction in Buenos Aires. God forbid that he too follow Ojo and Egbe!

This is a very bad week for the Nigerian Internet Diaspora community. May their souls rest in perfect peace.

Cheers.

Dear All,

If late Valentine Oso made any point clear to us all, it was his disbelief in the kind of God and how we worship that God especially in African Internet Forums.  For anyone who cared to read him, he made it clear that he believed in mechanistic humanism.

It would be fair and kind if we all respect his memory by not pouring our own beliefs out without respecting what he held dear during his lifetime.

Cheers.

Vengeance is of God Almighty. Nobody can help God to fight His course rather He is the one that help human being to fight their courses. We should also learn not to judge as it is of God.

Take cue from this;

BERNARD SHAW while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said '' God that's for you''

He died of LUNG CANCER at the age of 32 in a horrible manner.

The man who built the Titanic  :  After the construction, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be     With an ironic tone he  said 'Not even God can sink it'    The result of what happened to Titanic is known by all'

Marilyn Monroe (Actress)   She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show  '' He said the spirit of God had sent him to preach to her.  After hearing what the preacher had to say, she said    ''I don't need your God''

A week later, she was found dead in her apartment

Bon Scott (singer)   The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang   ''Dont stop me, I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell''   On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit

Campinas (IN2005)

In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend......    The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car:

''My daughter , Go with God And May He Protect You''

She reported: ''Only if He (God) Travels in the Trunk, Cause Inside Here...... It's Already Full''

Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died. the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact.

The Police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken!!!

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written.

In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle. God is powerful and many have forgotten the fact that no other name was given so much authority as the name of God.   THAT IS HOW IT IS  right from the beginning

Dear Olugbenga Ojo,

Please stop in the name of Olodumare! Those of us who do not believe in the Christian God or the Muslim God actually know we are bound to die one day. Death is a fact of life and to start pointing out all these names at this very moment shows your lack of sensitivity and respect  for the recently departed and his loved ones - the arrogance of you Christian fundamentalists knows no bound.

Why can't you just accept the fact that some of us will not believe in your Jesus and your Allah. It is the same arrogance that the white man and the Arabs brought to us during colonialism and slavery; we are better and racially superior because we are Christians and Muslims. That arrogance is what many of today's African Christians and Muslims like you have inherited.

I don't know the Bernard Shaw you are referring to in your post but the two world famous Shaws many of us know lived past 50. The famous Irish poet George Bernard Shaw died at the age of 96 and the African American journalist Bernard Shaw is still very much alive and he was born in 1940.

By the way, one can name many ardent Christians who died young. Pastor Adedoye's wife comes to mind, and there is Bishop Benson Idahosa.

Please stop peddling your bigotry and let the departed be. Your turn will come one day and I'm sure  you do not want some of  those you'll leave behind to subtly mock you as a bigoted Christian fundamentalist when you die!

OLugbenga Ojo,

Your remarks are in poor taste indeed. Does your Bible not say somewhere, 'rejoice with those rejoice and mourn with those who mourn?

Well said, Shola! A "God" that cannot save humanity from the scourge of diseases, disasters, heartrending deaths of innocent, harmless, vulnerable men, women, and children, etc.--in spite of constant streams of supplications from the faithful to "him"-- but has time to be incensed by the vain, infantile taunts of "his" powerless creations can't be all that "he" is cracked up to be. I wonder why anyone would be persuaded to worship a "God" that is that petty, narcissistic, vindictive, and mean-spirited. As an admittedly fallible human, I have a deeper sense of justice, compassion, and morality than this murderous, contemptibly small-minded "celestial" tyrant that Olugbenda calls "God."

You guys are being too nice to Olugbenga. Even the pope will not condemn Val to hell. The Val that I know very well as a colleague at the then University of Ife ( now OAU) was a hell of a selfless fellow. VERY FRIENDLY INDEED. Ife then had lots of faculty members from other African countries such as  Ghana, Sudan, Egypt, Cameroun, South Africa ,and also from  Europe, USA, India, etc. Val was one of the more open and friendliest Nigerians one could meet; and most were very friendly as well.  I spent 3 years with him, from  1984-1986, and never heard a bad word from any faculty member about Val. Yes, he loved to argue and debate. However, in all cases, Valentino Baba, as I called him, always stayed on the facts and logic. Listen to him speak French and you will think you have met Jean Paul Satre. And his use of Yoruba proverbs will remind you of someone descended directly from a sage. He was a sage himself.

I am sad because we always promised to visit each other in Chicago and Maryland but we never met before he passed. My wife and I will miss him indeed.  In a typical Ghanaian way I poured my libation with whiskey ( can’t trust the palm wine in Chicago)  to the ancestors requesting a wonderful resting place for his soul. And this Sunday I am going to the St Thomas the Apostle Catholic church in Hyde Park, Chicago, to pray for his soul.  Yes, I am both an Africanist and a Catholic, and my priest knows it.  I will never give up on the African Gods; and I will remain a Christian.

Let God judge me when I die. Olugbenga the religious fundamentalist and the bigoted self-hater is unqualified to judge me.

Valentino Baba, your Ghanaian friend, Edward, will always miss you.

Long Live Great Ife!!

You presented such horrifying stories that portray God as a wicked Being. God is not a wicked Being and we should not associate evil acts of men to him.

When will you people leave God well alone! You spew your own fears and insecurities here and pass it off as God talking through your empty selves!

Cheers.
