What is wrong with extinction?

The ongoing conversation about AI, fascinating and cutting edge, is that human civilization, as we know it, will come to an end.

As a hypothetical, what’s wrong with this? All previous civilizations have said this, which led to the idea of the rapture. The Bible states it, with frightening passages in the Book of Revelation. The Quran is even more explicit: The Hour. It will be preceded by three cosmic changes.

  • Sun folding up: The sun will be rolled up, and its light will be extinguished.
  • Stars falling: Stars will lose their light and fall from the sky.
  • Oceans bursting: The oceans will overflow and merge.

The way I see it, AI is secularizing ideas that have been with us since BC.

Suppose the world comes to an end, what really do we lose?

The end of work and the emergence of the everlasting age of leisure in paradise when AI does all the work. Then government and corporations will have to pay us a living wage or else no one will have the legaL tender to buy their gadgets. To all according to their needs and from all according to their abilities. The law will wither away with the state as instruments of class domination, according to the Manifesto of the Communist Party, alluding to the Acts of the Apostles.

Who is afraid of the end of Western Civilization? Not I said the bird in Death and the King's Horseman, Gandhi said that it will be a good idea for the West to be civilized. Rodney refused to use the word civilization and preferred to talk about cultures. Diop asked if we are talking about civilization or barbarism? Go figure.

2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity."

Food for Thought

I myself do not judge a man [or a woman] by  the color of his [or her] skin. The yardstick that I use to judge a man [or a woman] is his [ or her] deeds, his [her] behavior,  and his [or her] intentions. I have always kept an open mind, which is necessary to the flexibility that must go hand in hand with every form of intelligent search for truth. And, every time you let someone stand on your head and you don’t do anything about it, you are not acting with intelligence and should not be on this earth—you won’t be on this earth very long either." -- Malcolm X.

Here we have Michio Kaku CRYING about AI and the future of mankind

You may freely quote from Holy Quran and Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelations, however, when all the possible kinds of available information, fantasy and speculation are factored in, AI will probably  arrive at some kind of grand conclusion and spit out this kind of advice:

Suppose the world comes to an end, what really do we lose?

Absolutely nothing! We will go with a bang or a whimper.

                                                                        GREAT FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"SUPPOSE THE WORLD COMES TO AN END, WHAT REALLY DO WE LOSE?"

IN MY VIEW,  WE LOSE NOTHING AND GAIN NOTHING!!!

GENESIS 3: 19: "FOR DUST YOU ARE, AND TO DUST YOU SHALL RETURN." THIS IS TRUE EVEN WITH OUR SO-CALLED WEALTH AND POWER.

Not marble nor the gilded monuments

Of princes shall outlive this powerful rhyme

Just kidding and that was but

the beginning of another

Shakespearean conceit

about which the Pastor would

like to tell the poet, whether the exit

is with a bang or a whimper

mere dust we are and dust

we shall remain….

"FOR DUST YOU ARE, AND TO DUST YOU SHALL RETURN."

If it’s elevation we have in mind

elevation from dust

in this vale of tears

to the heavenly spheres

don’t forget there’s also Stardust

of the kind that Oluwatoyin V. Adepoju

probably has in mind, contemplates,

not just any kind of dust

but Cosmic Dust

the supernatural kind….

Song No 10 : We are not helpless

..... what will we lose?

We will lose living in this sinful, unequal, warlike, battlefield........but FUN FILLED and ENJOYABLE world. We move from the known to the unknown, from certainty to uncertainty, from reality to belief and faith.......... from here we did not choose to another unchosen location........we come to an end or to another unknown beginning or end....we become what our faith conceives and accepts......as the beginning or the end.......
