Dear Colleagues,

Please act on this or pass on to others who may be interested. To nominate someone (apart from supervisors of British PhDs on Africa), you have to be a member of the African Studies Association of the United Kingdom (ASAUK). For the Distinguished Africanist Award, you must have contributed to the development of African studies in the UK or in Africa. MKZ Lecture is opened to early career Africans (race neutral), but must be resident in Africa.

Subject: MKZL, Audrey Richards Prize and Distinguished Africanist Awards

Sending again as there was a problem with email last week.

Dear Members,

In December I contacted you to ask you for nominations to the prizes and honours the African Studies Association awards annually or biennially, and for which any ASAUK member can nominate colleagues. These prizes and honours include:

the Mary Kingsley Zochonis Lecture 2008,

the Audrey Richards Prize 2008, and

the Distinguished Africanist Awards 2007 and 2008.

I am now resending this information both as a reminder that the deadline for submissions (20 May 2008) is drawing closer and because we would like to receive nominations of as many promising young scholars (in the UK and Africa) and distinguished contributors to UK Africanist Studies as possible. Please feel free to put the attached documents on notice boards in your institutions, and to nominate as many colleagues as you feel happy with.

With best wishes, Insa Nolte (ASAUK Hon Sec)
