Hello friends:

I am running for State court judge in DeKalb County, Georgia. This is
a historic run as I have the opportunity to become the first judge of
Nigerian and possibly African descent elected in the United States.
Please spread the word of my candidacy. Please find out more about me
at my websites, www.tundeakinyele.com. My biography follows:

Tunde was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, the last of four children of
Theophilus and Elizabeth Akinyele. He moved to the United States at
the age of sixteen, attending the University of South Carolina from
1983 through 1987, where he received an undergraduate degree in
biology.

He attended Mercer University School of Business in 1995,
receiving a masters degree in Health Care Policy and Administration.
He later obtained his law degree from Georgia State University College
of Law in 2000. He has lived in the metropolitan Atlanta area for
fifteen years and in DeKalb County for nine years.
Tunde started his first career in the environmental industry in
Atlanta and moved to Puerto Rico in 1989. He spent the next five
years with an environmental consulting firm, Briggs Associates, where
he became the project manager responsible for a multi-million dollar
annual contract. Tunde obtained NIOSH, OSHA and EPA certifications in
environmental remediation, waste water management, indoor air quality,
and Phase I site assessments. He has had practical experience in the
fields of industrial hygiene, toxic torts, and environmental
management. From the business perspective, he is familiar with hands-
on contract preparation and negotiation.

His work in the environmental industry primarily dealt with how
government laws and regulations applied to work activities of
employers and employees. He was a bridge between the employer and the
employees, to make sure that both sides followed all applicable
federal and local laws. The legal aspects of the job piqued his
interest and as a result, he decided to leave the industry and go to
law school to further his career.

Tunde began his second career in the field of law as an Assistant
Solicitor-General in DeKalb County. He is currently a Senior
Assistant District Attorney in the DeKalb County District Attorney's
office under District Attorney Gwen Keyes Fleming. Prior to this, he
was a prosecutor under the previous administrations of former DeKalb
District Attorney J. Tom Morgan, interim District Attorney Jeff
Brickman, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard, and former
DeKalb Solicitor General Gwen Keyes Fleming. His current position
allows him to demonstrate his passion for public service and the
public good by immersing himself into the difficult cases while
focused on fairness. He is an experienced trial lawyer who is focused
on fairness while keeping the citizens safe. He has tried numerous
cases in his career, including violent and complex sexual assault
cases, child molestations cases, home invasion cases, drug cases and
homicide cases. Tunde has started his campaign to be the next State
Court judge in DeKalb County, in November 2010.

Tunde actively participates in community activities: as a member of
the 100 Black Men of DeKalb County, he mentors and encourages middle
and high school students in leadership academy programs and is a
member of the education committee. Tunde is also a board member of
the DeKalb Bar Association, the DeKalb Lawyers Association and the
Scottdale Child Development Center. He is multilingual, conversant in
English, Spanish and Yoruba and has a working knowledge of French. In
2007, Tunde created georgialawpages.com, a website directory for
Georgia lawyers. He attends the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in
Decatur.

Tunde,

I wish you well. I will do my best for you and pray for your success.

Maybe, Georgia, but there are many Nigerian American State Court judges.

Tunde,

I hope you sail through, but if not now do not give up and continue to try. I wish you good luck. This is the type of good news we want on this forum instead of us fighting and calling ourselves uncharitable names.
