russian lies and disinformation are built around false statements concerning antisemitism. it is beyond belief that the victim in the war is blamed for the aggression, and that charges of antisemitism are used by putin, so blatantly openly lies, that people still mouth. this year is the worst record of antisemitism in the u.s. since records have been made; worldwide, this war contributes to the propaganda lies about antisemitism.
here are 3 stories on that point.
The Russian foreign minister's claim that Hitler "had Jewish blood" is denounced as unforgiveable.

The Kremlin says it launched a "special military operation" on February 24 to demilitarize and "denazify" Ukraine, claiming its aim is to disarm and defeat nationalists within the country.

JERUSALEM — The Israeli prime minister, Naftali Bennett, condemned on Monday a recent claim by the Russian foreign minister, Sergey V. Lavrov, that Jews were “the biggest antisemites.”. The ...

Menua Pa Kwame:
I smiled a lot when perusing your e-mail message below, hoping that you were not thinking that I took The Washington Post article for a gospel truth.  That is never so, as it was a piece sent to me by a colleague, who was also puzzled by it. In fact, as a Researcher in Burkina Faso area, she knew that Sankara was a Marist but, after his death, she never knew that anybody was particularly interested in Russia or Marxism.
Also, I thought that since you were already in the country, you would be able to find out what was going on ideologically; for example, since the new military leaders did not halt Comporae's trial, I wondered if they were faithful followers of Sankara, etc., hence probably the resurgence in socialism or Marxist ideology. Anyway, it is very good to know your wonderful side of the issue. What about Chinese presence, compared to what we have in Ghana, where we understand that they are involved in illegal gold mining, etc.?
It is also great to know that you are very welcome in Ouagadougou.  It means that your research will flourish. We wish you the best.

Sincerely,
Akwasi.

I cannot say this article is right or wrong.
I have been here in Ouagadougou for one week, been most of the time with media people and lawyers and human rights advocates. I was at a friend's big feast of Ramadan yesterday patronised by mostly middle class professional types. Not one conversation mentioned Russia or Putin. I have not heard anyone talk about Russia. I have not seen any sign of Russian symbols on the streets. And I have not read any newspaper story supporting Russia or gloating for Putin. Using one poor Burkinabe youth's misplaced understanding of global politics as a trend for a whole African region is quite typical of traditional depiction of Africa in Western media..
This is not to say there is no Russian presence here. Russian diplomatic missions and technical advisors of one sort or another are in every African country, just as those from all Western powers are to be found everywhere. This article is one of those raising hysteria over Russia, exaggerating Russian "invasion" of Africa. I am no lover of Putin's expansionist and warmongering activities. But we should be spared being dragged into the inferno of European inter-imperialist contestation.
This is an exaggeration.
Kwame Karikari.
