Mr Abubabakr said his running mate must also "appreciate the critical importance of education in the development of modern societies so we can prepare our young people to be able to compete in the increasingly competitive and globalized world.

THere's nothing worse than accusing someone falsely, especially someone who is not in a position to defend/explain himself/ herself. If only, at all times he would care to be less vague and more specific.
Dear Baba Kadiri talks in rather abstract, general terms about “political harlotry”, a deep-think accusation that I associate with that other colourful expression, “The whore of Babylon '' which as per definition could not possibly apply to Nigeria since there are no female politicians, female mercenaries, whores, virgin queens, princesses, opportunistic millionairesses/ heiresses, big time female political harlots on the Nigerian frontline vying to be Nigeria’s next incorruptible president or Atiku’s “ running mate”.
I had thought that Atiku would surprise Nigeria and the world, show us all that he was a different breed of cat - a different breed of Muslim cat at that, by nominating a woman, Muslim or Christian from Benue, probably - to sweep the so called Middle Belt, or selected someone from the Boko Haram Borno area ( North Eastern Nigeria or a good woman from Ahmad Sani Yerima’s Zamfara the first Sharia State ever, in Nigeria, or better still from someone from Anamadbra where the real PDP presidential candidate was really supposed to come from , before Alhaji Atiku decided to flout the formerly agreed upon rules, rather selfishly, methinks. The type of president who would most likely suspend the Nigerian Constitution on the basis of his egotistical, overriding will and substitute a ruling of his own as and when convenient, without a squeak of protest or opposition from those who are obviously powerless when it comes to imposing their collective will, back by an agreed upon protocol…
Unfortunately, Baba Kadiri does not go into any salacious details about the political harlotry that he’s complaining about
Nor does Dear Chidi who, as cryptic as is often his wont when he is not being specific or kicking ass directly, this time decided to say, also rather obliquely, “Nyesom Wike of Rivers state is out, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state is in as Atiku's running mate. Okowa's emergence is a triumph of James Onanefe Ibori.”
Thereby leaving us the uninitiated into the mysteries, wondering, who is this James Ibori and how does he triumph through Ifeanyi Okowa being appointed Atiku’s sidekick?
Me? I don’t know enough about anything to start venturing to explain to myself or to anybody else, but I can tell you that this evening I got the shock of my life when a Yoruba man from the Gambia told me that Obasanjo who once famously said the God would never forgive him if he supported Mallam Atiku to be elected President of Nigeria - wonders never cease - the same Obasanjo is now saying that “Atiku has now learned his lesson” and that every hare-brained Nigerian should vote for him
Baba Kadiri,
Let’s say it again: You're a Godsend to this series.
The only problem with this latest episode is that you end it all too abruptly with your “Am I clear enough?”
It looks like what you started exposing was but the tip of the iceberg. Of course, you're clear enough and your deft portraiture of Mr / Dr./ Director-General Atiku Abubakar is more than clear enough, we get the drift, but what’s the point of whetting our curiosity by referring to Olusegun Obasanjo’s first-person testimony against his less than saintly vice president Mallam Atiku Abubakar by merely referring to Chapters 36 and 37 of President Obasanjo's political autobiography, “ My Watch”? It’s doubtful that more than 0.1% of the Nigerian electorate of this generation is ever going to read that book - most of the electorate that can read are reading the Quran - of which the first world of revelation is Iqra - read - and the Christain scripture where Jesus advises, "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's"
After a good five minutes of googling, all I could find was Obasanjo describing Atiku as “ a blatant and shameless liar.” I was able to glean a few bits and even more damaging pieces from Chapter 36 of My Watch:
Atiku and US Justice Entanglement
Baba Kadiri, there’s this recurring religious theme, “ Why do bad things happen to good people?” Thinking of Patrice Lumumba and asking, surely, Nigeria deserves better and can do much better than the recycled likes of Atiku Abubakar? Is there anybody in the world including himself and Olusegun Obasanjo who before God and man could assert a contrary view that Atiku Abubakar would not be the very worst thing that could ever befall Nigeria, the Pan- African Continent & Diaspora?
After such knowledge, what forgiveness?
I daresay, should - God forbid - should Atiku win, Nigeria would be destined to be the laughing stock of the rest of Africa. The sort of mishap that causes the kind of racism that says, “ They can't even govern themselves, their independent selves, they can only mismanage everything” - and then, when we have someone like British Prime Minister, David Cameron talking about " fantastically corrupt” it’s the Mallam that will be at the forefront of those calling the PM a liar.As I gently reminded Baba Kadiri last night, if indeed “a week is a long time in politics” then the 249 days from today 21 June 2022 to Nigerian Presidential Election Day on 25 February 2023 which with typical German precision is the equivalent of approximately 35 and a half weeks, is nothing short of a nail-biting eternity, during which - God forbid - we will witness from wherever we happen to be, more ransom kidnappings, church arsons, Boko Haram carnage, and last but not least, Fulani Herdsmen on the rampage again, this time to give Atiku Adebayo a bad name, as some of the Adepojus will not hesitate to postulate that fellow Fulani Brer Atiku is “one of them” even baptise him “ an enabler”, birds of the same feather, in the name of Miyetti Allah and in the interests of “Northern Hegemony”
Later on, I accidentally stumbled on the hopeful, giddy Igbophile Kperogi.
“There’s an unstoppably growing corps of fire-up young (and not-so-young) people who are investing their time, energy, and emotions in Peter Obi”, he coos.
In Peter Obi or on Peter Obi?
“Some of the secessionist oxygen that sustained Biafra agitation has now been redirected to Peter Obi. Nnamdi Kanu has now been pushed on the backburner.”
“ has now been pushed on the backburner.” or has now been pushed TO the backburner.”?
“But there are dangers for Obi, though, should he somehow defeat the structural impediments on his way to become president”
Or” But there are dangers for Obi, though, should he somehow defeat the structural impediments on his way to becoming president”
( Just some German- English pedantry. Nor do correct prepositions admit a plebian like me into the realms of British aristocracy unlike e.g. V.S. Naipaul ( in his own mind
I suppose it sometimes happens when some Bariba people (a relatively little tribe) marry into an Igbo family - that the wife’s influence can overshadow and dominate the husband's political jive. In Sierra Leone Krio, such a one is referred to as “ woman lappa”. One morning in Buguma, in early 1983 my friend Mr Long-John who was the Chairman of the Kalabari Youth Section of Shagari’s N.P.N.picked me up in his jalopy - something like a Range Rover, a huge strapping hunk of funk, looked like Evander Holyfield, informed me “Collins, we’re going for a drive” I got in, sat at the front seat with him, his wife sat at the back. He turned on the engine and started pouring out his heart to me. The gist of the matter was that his Igbo wife was the treasurer of the NPP ( The Igbo Party) and he would have none of it.
“Is it right that I should be feeding the enemy?”, he asked me. He stopped the vehicle. A long, heated palaver erupted. His wife stood her ground. The matter remained unresolved. I guess they made things up, in bed, later that night or later in the afternoon. After war, it’s usual for peace and love in some of these domestic situations. Peace &% love followed by some tranquillity. Some suspension of hostilities. Feeding the enemy indeed.
“The change in the day that makes them rant and rave
Black Power! Black Power!
And the change that comes over them at night, as they sigh and moan:
White thighs, ooh, white thighs ”
Kperogi seems to think that Peter Obi as a third force will force a re-run. It's the sort of subject matter that is being avidly discussed in the beer parlours in the Esat, So it’s no longer a two-horse race - it’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu who I think is likely to be declared the winner, Atiku - the Godfather and old enough to be Peter Obi’s father, the runner up and Peter Obi himself, certainly the most innocent of Nigeria's Golgotha
According to Google, this is how a Nigerian President is elected.
“The President of Nigeria is elected using a modified two-round system, to be elected in the first round, a candidate must receive a majority of the vote and over 25% of the vote in at least 24 of the 36 states. If no candidate passes this threshold, a second-round is held.”
And his latest diatribe against V-P Osinbajo. And where does this kind of malicious animosity/bearing false witness against thy neighbour come from: “Recall that Osinbajo reportedly said a loud “Amen!” in his hometown of Ikenne in Ogun State when an RCCG pastor prayed that Buhari should die in London so that Osinbajo will become president.”
