Atiku who is quoted as stating open grazing is a viable option in the 21st century, describing the various anti-open grazing laws as unconstitutional in spite of the terrorism unleashed on Nigerians through open grazing by Fulani herdsmen.

What is the educational furure of the nomadic Fulani?

Why are the sedentary or town Fulani like Atiku okay with the lifestyle of the nomadic Fulani  that has no relationship with the 21st century?

Or is it beceause these people are useful as foot soldiers in supremacist Fulani colomisation plans?

Do Miyetti Allah chieftans have children who are Fulani herdsmen even as they justify massacres by the herdsmen?

By their fruits shall ye know them.

Politics is neither dirty nor is it a game; not only is it a science, it is very clean. However, now and then, especially in Nigeria, dirty people take part in politics only to stain it with their dirt. The reason why Atiku Abubakar picked Ifeanyichukwu Okowa, the current Governor of Delta State, as his running mate is because Okowa led his Delta State's delegates to the May 29, 2022, PDP presidential primary to vote for Atiku Abubakar. Worth remembering now is that Ifeanyichukwu Okowa, as Governor of Delta State, hosted the meeting of the *17 Southern Governor's Forum* held in Asaba on Tuesday, 11 May 2021. The Forum which included governors from the APC, PDP and APGA controlled states, resolved in unison that after eight years of a Northerner's (Buhari's) presidency, it would be the turn of the South to produce the next President in 2023. The PDP, in particular, has eight years rotational presidency, between the North and South, stipulated in its party constitution, but political harlotry of Atiku Abubakar will not allow the provision of the constitution of the PDP to prevail. The obvious dirty politics played here now is that Atiku's choice of Ifeanyichukwu Arthur Okowa as his running mate is a reward from Atiku to Okowa for his treacherous behaviour against the resolution of the meeting of 17 Southern Governors of 11 May 2021, held in Asaba and hosted by Okowa himself. Democracy in Nigeria is, and has always been, an exercise in trickery, deception and outright dishonesty. It has always been cases of dirty people playing dirty politics.

THere's nothing worse than accusing someone falsely, especially someone who is not in a position to defend/explain himself/ herself. If only, at all times he would care to be less vague and more specific.

Dear Baba Kadiri talks in rather abstract, general terms about “political harlotry”,  a deep-think accusation that I associate with that other colourful expression, “The whore of Babylon '' which as per definition could not possibly apply to Nigeria since there are no female politicians, female mercenaries, whores, virgin queens, princesses, opportunistic millionairesses/ heiresses, big time female political harlots on the Nigerian frontline vying to be Nigeria’s next incorruptible president or Atiku’s “ running mate”.

I had thought that Atiku would surprise Nigeria and the world, show us all that he was a different breed of cat - a different breed of Muslim cat at that, by nominating a woman, Muslim or Christian from Benue, probably - to sweep the so called Middle Belt, or selected someone from the Boko Haram Borno area ( North Eastern Nigeria or a good woman from Ahmad Sani Yerima’s Zamfara the first Sharia State ever, in Nigeria, or better still from someone from Anamadbra where the real PDP presidential candidate was really supposed to come from , before Alhaji Atiku decided to flout the formerly agreed upon rules, rather selfishly, methinks. The type of president who would most likely suspend the Nigerian Constitution on the basis of his egotistical, overriding will and substitute a  ruling of his own as and when convenient, without a squeak of protest or opposition from those who are obviously powerless when it comes to imposing their collective will, back by an agreed upon protocol…

Unfortunately, Baba Kadiri does not go into any salacious details about the political harlotry that he’s complaining about

Nor does Dear Chidi who, as cryptic as is often his wont when he is not being specific or kicking ass directly, this time decided to say, also rather obliquely, “Nyesom Wike of Rivers state is out, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state is in as Atiku's running mate. Okowa's emergence is a triumph of James Onanefe Ibori.”

Thereby leaving us the uninitiated into the mysteries, wondering, who is this James Ibori and how does he triumph through Ifeanyi Okowa being appointed  Atiku’s sidekick?

Me? I don’t know enough about anything to start venturing to explain to myself or to anybody else, but I can tell you that this evening I got the shock of my life when a Yoruba man from the Gambia  told me that Obasanjo who once famously said the God would never forgive him if he supported Mallam Atiku  to be elected President of Nigeria - wonders never cease -  the same Obasanjo is now saying that  “Atiku has now learned his lesson” and that every hare-brained Nigerian should vote for him

Sweet Talks

From Salimonu Kadiri.

Political harlotry as far as Nigeria is concerned is not abstract but very real and visible for anyone who cares to look at it. As it is well-known to all Nigerians, Atiku Abubakar, became a millionaire by virtue of his employment as Deputy Director General of Nigeria Customs. If truth were to be spoken, it is a tradition that the top notches of the Nigeria Customs become millionaires after appointment even though their total annual emoluments are under a million naira. Atiku left Nigerian Customs to become a politician and he was rewarded with the post of Vice President to President Olusegun Obasanjo in the 1999 PDP government. As VP Atiku Abubakar presided over the PDP ruled Federal Government's privatisation programme of Nigeria's national patrimony, which the National Assembly valued at over $100 billion but which Atiku sold at less than $1.5 billion. It turned out that he sold lion shares of the assets to himself and his cronies and gave Obasanjo dog's share. That was said, in many quarters, to be the beginning and cause of the political quarrel between President Obasanjo and his deputy, Atiku Abubakar, soon after 2003 Presidential election.

By 2006, the dispute between Obasanjo and Atiku had reached the point of irreconcilability and while Obasanjo openly accused Atiku of corruption, Atiku countered that Obasanjo should explain how he had suddenly acquired properties worth billions of naira when his net bank account when he came out Abacha's prison in 1998 was N 20,000 only. As the 2007 Presidential election was approaching Atiku realized that Obasanjo was not going to allow him to contest on the platform of PDP. Therefore, he informed Obasanjo that he was going to contest on the platform of Action Congress (AC) party led by the then outgoing Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while simultaneously retaining his PDP vice presidentship. Atiku Abubakar contested the 2007 presidential election on the platform of AC and scored 2,637,848 votes compared with Yar'Adua and Buhari who scored 24,638,063 and 6, 605,299 votes respectively.

When President Umaru Yar'Adua died in May 2010, the Vice President, Goodluck Ebelle Jonathan became substantive President and it was assumed in certain quarters that he would only complete the joint tenure with Yar'Adua and another northerner would contest for presidency in 2011. Atiku Abubakar who has an innate reservoir of con and deceit flowing in his arteries abandoned the AC and returned to the PDP in 2010. He began in earnest to campaign that the eight years power rotation between the North and the South enshrined in the PDP constitution excluded any Southerner, including Jonathan, from contesting to become the President in 2011. Atiku Abubakar contested the PDP presidential primary election against Jonathan towards the end of 2010 and lost to Jonathan who eventually won the Presidential election against Muhammadu Buhari of the then CPC. When APC was formed mainly by CPC and ACN in 2013, Atiku Abubakar led a group that called itself new-PDP to join APC in 2014 after being convinced that Jonathan was going to contest the Presidential election in 2015. Once again in December 2014, Atiku Abubakar contested APC presidential primary and scored 954 votes as against Muhammadu Buhari who scored 3,430 votes and Rabiu Kwankwaso who scored 974 votes.

Muhammadu Buhari of the APC went on to defeat Jonathan of the PDP in the 2015 Presidential election but a year after ascending Presidency, he spent over 105 days to cater for his ill-health in the UK. Many believed that Buhari, for health reason, would not seek second term presidency and when it became clear in 2017 that Buhari was going to contest 2019 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar moved back to join PDP. In 2018, Atiku Abubakar contested in the PDP presidential primary and won, making him to face Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 Presidential election which he lost. Muhammadu Buhari, being a Northerner would have been President for eight years in 2023 and according to the constitution of PDP, it would be the turn of the South to produce the President in 2023. Political prostitution geared by self-interest and not ideology or principle caused Atiku Abubakar to contest in the PDP presidential primary at the end of May 2022. Delegates of 767 persons at the presidential primary election of the PDP were the lowest in the history of the party. However, Atiku won the primary by scoring 371 votes to become PDP flag bearer in the 2023 presidential election.

Obasanjo's statement saying Atiku has learnt his lessons which you referred to was actually made in January 30, 2019, and it was in support of Atiku for the 2019 Presidential election. Earlier, on August 4, 2018, Obasanjo in a Premium Times Nigeria interview had said, "God will never forgive me if I support Atiku for president." https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/278869-exclusive-god-will-never-forgive-me-if-i-support-atiku-for-president-obasanjo.html
Specifically, Mr Abubakar was said to have received kickbacks for his role in helping iGate, an American firm, secure the contract. Williams Jefferson, an American politician who was a member of ...
Obasanjo stance on Atiku did not surprise anyone especially those who had read volume two, chapters 36 and 37 of his book, My Watch, published in 2014. What was surprising was Obasanjo's sudden change of opinion on Atiku. Political prostitutes in Nigeria have their own National Anthem that begins like this : Arise O political Whores; Nigeria's call to the Greeds and Gluttons; To serve Nigeria is to be greedy and to steal gluttonously; And to steal and feed gluttonously is to be within the circumference of government power. Chronologically, Atiku's political harlotry began in 2006, when he was in bed with Action Congress (AC) to contest the 2007 presidential election while still married to PDP on whose platform he was serving as the Vice President. In 2010, he returned to the PDP to seduce the presidency from Goodluck Jonathan but when he failed, he jumped nakedly onto APC's bed in 2013 hoping to be poked into presidential candidate of that party in 2015. APC would not sleep on the same bed with Atiku who in 2017 remarried politically to the PDP to become its presidential flag bearer in the 2019 election. Am I clear enough?

Baba Kadiri,

Let’s say it again: You're a Godsend to this series.

The only problem with this latest episode is that you end it all too abruptly with your “Am I clear enough?”

It looks like what you started exposing was but the tip of the iceberg. Of course, you're clear enough and your deft portraiture of Mr / Dr./ Director-General Atiku Abubakar is more than clear enough, we get the drift, but what’s the point of whetting our curiosity by referring to Olusegun Obasanjo’s first-person testimony against his less than saintly vice president Mallam Atiku Abubakar by merely referring to Chapters 36 and 37 of President Obasanjo's political autobiography, “ My Watch”?  It’s doubtful that more than 0.1% of the Nigerian electorate of this generation is ever going to read that book - most of the electorate that can read  are reading the Quran  - of which the first world of revelation is Iqra - read  - and the Christain  scripture where Jesus advises, "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's"

After a good five minutes of googling, all I could find was Obasanjo describing Atiku as “ a blatant and shameless liar.” I was able to glean a few bits and even more damaging pieces from Chapter 36 of My Watch:

Atiku and US Justice Entanglement

Baba Kadiri, there’s this recurring religious theme, “ Why do bad things happen to good people?” Thinking of Patrice Lumumba and asking, surely, Nigeria deserves better and can do much better than the recycled likes of Atiku Abubakar? Is there anybody in the world including himself and Olusegun Obasanjo who before God and man could assert a contrary view that  Atiku Abubakar would not be the very worst thing that could ever befall Nigeria, the Pan- African Continent & Diaspora?

After such knowledge, what forgiveness?

I daresay, should  - God forbid -  should  Atiku win, Nigeria would be destined to be the laughing stock of the rest of Africa. The sort of mishap that causes the kind of racism that says, “ They can't even govern themselves, their independent selves, they can only mismanage everything” - and then, when we have someone like British Prime Minister, David Cameron talking about " fantastically corrupt” it’s the Mallam that will be at the forefront of those calling the PM a liar.

As I gently reminded Baba Kadiri last night, if indeed “a week is a long time in politics” then the 249 days from  today 21 June 2022 to Nigerian Presidential Election Day on 25 February 2023 which with typical German precision is the equivalent of approximately 35 and a half weeks, is nothing short of a nail-biting eternity, during which - God forbid - we will witness from wherever we happen to be, more ransom kidnappings, church arsons, Boko Haram carnage, and last but not least, Fulani Herdsmen on the rampage again, this time to give Atiku Adebayo a bad name, as some of the Adepojus will not hesitate to postulate that fellow Fulani Brer Atiku is “one of them” even baptise him “ an  enabler”, birds of the same feather, in the name of Miyetti Allah and in the interests of “Northern Hegemony”

Later on, I accidentally stumbled on the hopeful, giddy Igbophile Kperogi.

“There’s an unstoppably growing corps of fire-up young (and not-so-young) people who are investing their time, energy, and emotions in Peter Obi”, he coos.

In Peter Obi or on Peter Obi?

“Some of the secessionist oxygen that sustained Biafra agitation has now been redirected to Peter Obi. Nnamdi Kanu has now been pushed on the backburner.”

“ has now been pushed on the backburner.”  or  has now been pushed TO the backburner.”?

“But there are dangers for Obi, though, should he somehow defeat the structural impediments on his way to become president”

Or” But there are dangers for Obi, though, should he somehow defeat the structural impediments on his way to becoming president”

( Just some German- English pedantry. Nor  do correct prepositions admit a plebian like me into the realms of British aristocracy unlike e.g. V.S. Naipaul ( in his own mind

I suppose it sometimes happens when some Bariba people (a relatively little tribe) marry into an Igbo family - that the wife’s influence can overshadow and dominate the husband's political jive. In Sierra Leone Krio, such a one is referred to as “ woman lappa”.  One morning in Buguma, in early 1983 my friend Mr Long-John who was the Chairman of the Kalabari Youth Section of Shagari’s N.P.N.picked me up in his jalopy - something like a Range Rover, a huge strapping hunk of funk, looked like Evander Holyfield, informed me  “Collins, we’re going for a drive” I got in, sat at the front seat with him, his wife sat at the back. He turned on the engine and started pouring out his heart to me. The gist of the matter was that his Igbo wife was the treasurer of the NPP ( The Igbo Party) and he would have none of it.

“Is it right that I should be feeding the enemy?”, he asked me. He stopped the vehicle. A long, heated palaver erupted. His wife stood her ground. The matter remained unresolved. I guess they made things up, in bed, later that night or later in the afternoon. After war, it’s usual for peace and love in some of these domestic situations. Peace &% love followed by some tranquillity. Some suspension of hostilities. Feeding the enemy indeed.

The change in the day that makes them rant and rave

Black Power! Black Power!

And the change that comes over them at night, as they sigh and moan:

White thighs, ooh, white thighs ”

Kperogi seems to think that Peter Obi as a third force will force a re-run. It's  the sort of subject matter that is being avidly discussed in the beer parlours in the Esat, So it’s no longer a two-horse race - it’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu who I think is likely to be declared the winner, Atiku  - the Godfather and old enough to be Peter Obi’s father, the runner up and  Peter Obi himself, certainly the most innocent of Nigeria's Golgotha

According to Google, this is how a Nigerian President is elected.

“The President of Nigeria is elected using a modified two-round system, to be elected in the first round, a candidate must receive a majority of the vote and over 25% of the vote in at least 24 of the 36 states. If no candidate passes this threshold, a second-round is held.”

And his latest diatribe against V-P Osinbajo.  And where does this kind of malicious animosity/bearing false witness against thy neighbour come from: “Recall that Osinbajo reportedly said a loud “Amen!” in his hometown of Ikenne in Ogun State when an RCCG pastor prayed that Buhari should die in London so that Osinbajo will become president.”
