It would seem that current Israeli Military doctrine identifies HAMAS as AMALEK

West Bank latest news

Gaza latest news

The death toll for Palestinians in Gaza has passed 8,000 — mostly women and minors.

There’s a clear ethical meaning to be understood by chesed and  pikuach nefesh, but two weeks ago the Israeli Ambassador to the UK said "There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza"

Since the relentless bombing of Gaza started,  war crimes and the most extreme form of war crimes, namely GENOCIDE has been the word that’s being used to describe what Israel’s military has been perpetrating.

Yesterday, I wrote to the kindest and most humanitarian Israelite Jew that I know  - a good friend of more than 45 years now, a man who espouses Ahimsa

I wrote to him,

Shalom :

Everything is not fine with Israel and Gaza.”

He replied:

Of course it's saddening to see what happened and is still happening. I do hope Israel will succeed in getting rid of the problem, a huge one. Barbarians, sadists, antisemites. The sad thing is that they gain support from leftists who join them in their shouting "Death to the Jews! Destroy Israel! etc etc.”. Antisemitism knows no political borders!

I think there is only one way that one can understand the madness of man’s inhumanity to man. I say “one” but to be absolutely sure let me instead since Israel will have to live with the consequences forever -  there is only one way that I can understand this madness of man’s inhumanity to man: It would seem that according to the current Israeli military doctrine HAMAS = AMALEK

What was Amaleks crime?

AMALEK : He did not fear God but attacked Israel from behind

The rabbis say that AMALEK arises in every generation and that according to God’s command it is a divinely sanctioned duty to wipe Amalek off the surface of the earth

I mostly am in agreement with cornelius here. Israel and gaza have traded rockets and artillery before. Hamas launched an unprecedented assault, committed enormous atrocities, and took 200 plus hostages.
Israel’s tactics in past conflicts, besides tit for tat, was to bludgeon gaza into submission.this hamas attack was too large, violent, and atrocious that simplebombings would be an appropriate answer, in israeli eyes. So they turned to enormous mass reprisals.
You can’t do this unless you’ve lost your moorings. In world war two, when the resistance weighed whether to kill a nazi soldier they had to decide whether it was worth it to risk enormous reprisals against the village. Here hamas did the unconscionable, as if the subsequent loss of palestinian lives were worth it, whatever “it” was.
Israel responded as expected, with the world’s opprobrium seeming to be irrelevant to their own local political beliefs, thus moving into the role of nazis when they slaughtered villages in response.
Here the attacks on a civilian population constitute genocide, as were the hamas attacks. Only now the israeli killings are approaching 10 tens those of hamas.
Wolves attacking wolves, homo homini lupus, uncivilized inhuman behavior.
Meanwhile the captives are being held hostage, so israel has no real incentive to stop bombing, and hamas has awakened all the fury of the muslim world against the jews, something that has gone far beyond israel. I write these words from france, where more than 500 antisemitic incidents were reported as of two days ago, and where i read the people of dagestan attempted to attack people flying in from israel. In my home town a woman who had attended our synagogue was stabbed to death; a week earlier a 6 yr old palestinian child was stabbed to death in chicago.

Much that is ugly can be said about both sides. When we hear the attacks being launched against just one side, while the other is permitted to commit atrocities, we have to think there is more than the atrocities that is at play. Sabella said it well a few weeks ago: we can agree with the cause of an oppressed people—in this case palestinians—while not approving necessarily of all of its actions.

Those who approve of their actions must hate israelis and jews; and of course those who approve the israeli bombing must hate the arabs.
I keep remembering the words of theprince of verona, after the deaths of romeo and juliet: all are punishèd.

Dear Ken,

May your tribe increase. InshAllah.

As you say, “Those who approve of their actions must hate israelis and jews; and of course those who approve the israeli bombing must hate the arabs.”

This leaves the question of the ratio of anti-Semites to Islamophobes unanswered. Hazarding a guess with some abstract figures simply won’t do, and if people had to fill in some questionnaire, some of them, including some of the holier-than-thou and the hypocrites would be too shy to give an honest answer.

It’s an era of identity politics  - the rich, the poor, the tourists, the world exporters, and the other strong identifier, religion, so I glanced at

Christian Population by country 2023

Muslim Population by Country 2023

Hindu Population by country 2023

Buddhist Population by country 2023

Jewish Population  by country

with a one-man-one-vote representative world government in view, a world government that paranoid conspiracy theorists say is likely to replace the useless United Nations which is not so united after all.

Yoruba religion in Africa, in the Diaspora and in “No Man’s Land” would of course also like to stand up and be counted.

The ratio of Jews in France and 5,720,000 Muslims of France

“Not in Our Name”: 400 Arrested at Jewish-Led Sit-in at NYC’s Grand Central Demanding Gaza Ceasefire

Re - a world government via one man, one vote , methinks the UnIted States wouldn’t like that because the United States is only 4% of the world population…

“All are punishèd” is such a terrible idea.

Many years ago Rabbi Ovadia Yosef raised a storm of protest when he asserted that the Jews who perished in the Holocaust were “reincarnated sinners

https://www.jpost.com/israel/ovadia-yosef-shoah-victims-reincarnated-sinners

Today, we all agree with this that has been posted so many times before to this forum, that “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

To his credit, Nigeria’s Roman Catholic Bishop Kukah has been saying something constructive in response to the savagery being perpetrated on the people of Gaza

The American Pentecostals and Evangelicals just some of their Nigerian counterparts, their brothers in Christ living fat off tithes, remind me of Hamlet saying “He took my father grossly, full of bread”....

God , the God of mercy’s punishment has descended several times before, and in response to the prayers of the oppressed people of Palestine, His judgement may descend on the oppressors for their wicked acts of not so long ago, for what they have done with their own hands in the recent past, for what they are doing now, and for what they have planned and are still planning to do in the near future, namely more crimes against humanity, genocide, forced displacements of whole populations, more precisely, forced displacement of Palestinian populations , make life so difficult for Palestinians in the West bank that they voluntarily want to migrate to Jordan…

Imagine that from His throne in Heaven God is looking at God’s viceroy on planet earth where the main actor in this  war of attrition is the IDF

West Bank Atrocities

The West Bank -  where at the hands of the Israeli authorities cold-blooded murder, arbitrary arrest, and death in detention  and imprisonment of Palestininas are the order of the day

Gaza : Israeli atrocities

Israeli atrocities in Gaza where  “at least 8,300 Palestinians, mostly women and  children, have been killed in Israeli air attacks”

Around the world Pro Gaza demonstrations

Pro-Palestine demonstration in Baghdad

Pro-Palestine demonstration in Istanbul

Pro-Palestinian demonstration in London

I asked Pa Google: How many people were killed during the Nakba?

I asked Pa Google: How many people were killed during the first Arab-Israeli War?

As the whole mess is about to escalate into a regional war, try this for Irony

I can’t say for sure whether pontecorvo approved of the bombings; from the pov in the film, not clear. But he definitely wanted to highlight the awfulness of the acts: the baby in the airport lounge had little curls etc; it was portrayed as a victim, as weere the teenagers dancing in the club. At the same time, the film was clearly in the camp of the fln, who were the heroes. That’s part of what made it a great film: it refused the easy position of didacticism, more or less; and in fact was banned in france until recently.
Similar films could have been made about the british in kenya, with the mau mau revolt; or portuguese colonies, like sambizanga, again with the hero being tortured. Films, like news accounts for these hamas killings, either bring up the truth of what happened, or cover it over with empty rhetoric. We are in the position of having to ask, what do we condone support, what do we condemn.
And at what cost.

To remind us, and to confirm sabella's point: in The Battle of AAlgiers the women are recruited to plant bombs. The first, a young girl of 18? Plants in a nightclub, with youths her age dancing. She looks longingly at then, has a coffee, plants the bomb, leave; it goes boom, youth killed. In the second, air france lounge, women waiting with children for flight, older woman with kid plants bomb, leaves, it blows them up.
Remember the films begins with the fln man being tortured by the french; the french military taking the position, we will destroy them, no holds barred. But the resistance then commits its crimes against the civilians, especially youth and children, mothers. Pontecorvo wanted us to see the resistance as faced with this situation, andd taking the line that bombing must be done against civilians to drive out the french.
This seems the story of revolution, as we've conceived it.

Hi toyin,
Yes, israel has committed more atrocities, or at least militarist acts, not all of which artrocious attacks on civilians. Israel is the dominant occupying power, and unfortunately since oslo has moved to rightwing positions that assume they can control things by bludgeoning the palestinians into submission, without really granting them statehood.
True, that.
Still, hamas is no wunderkind.

It is necessary to see “israeli” actions and positions in light of the basic political divisions that have marked the left and right in israel, as elsewhere. The right has supported settlers, expropriation of palestinian lands, and many abuses, in the name of religion often enough. The left is secular and generally opposed to the expansion of settlements.
Now, of course, under conditions of war, they have to be united, though even there divisions are appearing.
The people i have admired and wanted to support were those who sought to bridge the gap between israeli andpalestinian, muslim and jew; whose organizations actively worked on this bridging. Now all is thrown into disarray. But not all israelis agreed with the occupation or settlements, and many worked hard with palestinians.
One was a jewishwoman who lived near gaza, worked to secure medical treatments for palestinians in gaza. She was killed by hamas.

Al Jazeera: inside story

t.ly/6iAJU

“In Studio 1, P1 the following was just said by a former head of the Israeli security service: It is not possible to eradicate Hamas with military means because it is an ideology - which has created, among other things, a military organisation. The only way to defeat Hamaz is to replace their ideology with another - to offer a better life and hope for Palestinians - a two-state solution. The current government in Israel has just the opposite attitude - they mean that the more Palestinians suffer, the less they want Hamaz. They want to completely trample on the Palestinian people and instead bet on friendly relations with the Arab States around Israel to the extent they are willing to abandon the Palestinians. I think this former head of security is absolutely right.” ( https://www.facebook.com/solweig.jansson.16

You have to give it to Professor Kenneth Harrow that so far he has been even-handed, as even-handed as he can be, without being accused of being an antisemite or a “self-hating Jew.” - like some of the mamas and papas here: Jewry in West Africa ( The Anglo Jews. The Austrian Jews, God forbid.)

In the middle of the ongoing carnage, in the name of supremacist religiosity, some of the not so holy want to pontificate about  “ethical relativity” - such unholy prattle!

UN Security Council Resolution 242 and 338 are still on the table and are still being ignored by the miscreants.

The oppressors and occupiers of other people’s lands want to present themselves to the world as being “morally superior” to the people whose lands they have occupied and are still occupying: The lands of the defenceless people of Palestine whom they have been busy oppressing since 1967, after the ethnic cleansing known as The Nakba :

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

“enormous mass reprisals” has no sense of proportionality. Surely,  David cannot reincarnate as Goliath or Führer or worse still the scandal-ridden Netanyahu , the leader of a coalition that has the world reputation of being the most extreme right-wing government that Israel has ever produced. Their “Bibi” as he is called by his fans, is now posing as the saviour of his people, even as he is being accused of trying to prevent Israel's Justice system so that he can steal more Palestinian land!

“enormous mass reprisals”: The death toll in Gaza

To satisfy the bloodthirsty Israelis clamouring for revenge, the “enormous mass reprisals” being perpetrated on the besieged, long-suffering people of Gaza means Gaza latest  i.e.

more deaths, more wilful murder of Palestinian civilians in the past three weeks, over 8,500 Palestinian civilians, mostly children, the elderly, and women, “enormous mass reprisals” continue to mean more deaths and the destruction of Gazan homes, hospitals, schools, mosques, and critical infrastructure and on top of all that cutting off Gaza's water supply, electricity, food delivery, medical supplies,  bombing their hospitals, TV Stations etc

Is Amalek relevant today?

As an area man of Amnesty International, Professor Harrow is probably more aware of  Israel’s record of transgressions that are being committed in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to these reports 👍

Amnesty International: Israel and the Occupied Territories

Human Rights Watch : Israel and the Occupied Territories

Between the 7th of October and 24th of October, the Israeli military had already dropped more than 12,000 tons of explosives on the Gaza Strip -and this was before the more intensive bombing started. By now it must have surely exceeded 30,000 tons of bombs on little Gaza.

What’s the logic behind “Meanwhile the captives are being held hostage, so israel has no real incentive to stop bombing” ?

Why Amalek?
Netanyahu has a lot of more
“exciting” blood curdling
role models and
incidents to choose from.

Exodus 72,84
Leviticus 176,289,225
Numbers 250, 261, 289
Deuteronomy 304, 318, 325
Joshua 392, 393, 398, 411 - 416
Judges 437- 9,443,462,481
Samuel 509, 515, 518, 524, 531
I Kings 606, 608,686
2Chronicles 701
Esther 717
Job  779
Isaiah 836, 862, 872
Nahum 1153

He should have picked Amaziah
who went on a killing spree,
 Killed 10,000 children, and
another 10,000 were cast
 from the top of the

 For vengeance
Isaiah 862 is  hot.

There’s a lot of talk about Netanyahu and having no plan as to what they are going to do after  - God forbid  - their complete destruction of Gaza and their declared objective of wiping Hamas off the surface of the earth.

He who feels it knows. What would be the point of Israel continuing with their non-stop genocidal bombardment when the hostages could wind up in the morgue as part of the IDF’s collateral damage?

Brer Obasanjo once confessed ” God will never forgive me if I support Atiku for President”  - imagine the hostages and the relatives of the hostages declaring every minute that goes by, that God and they will never forgive Prime Minister Netanyahu who they will hold responsible if the hostages should all perish. Right now, this is how it is: Relatives of the hostages in Gaza blame Netanyahu

If - God forbid - Professor was one of Hamas’ 240 hostages being held in Gaza, I’m sure that Ojogbon among many others along with Sleepy Joe Biden and the State Department would be fighting tooth and nail as we all “hope for a negotiation”. And if it was some ransom money that they wanted for Don Harrow, then no price should be too high to pay.

So far Hamas has been hoping that the example of Gilad Shalit who was exchanged for 1,000 Palestinians in Israeli jails, should serve as a good precedent.

Hamas is not asking for too much.

This is the Hamas melody:

Like the birds in the tree

All the Palestinian prisoners must be free!

( Revolution

All Hamas wants in return is that Mister Netanyahu and crew release ALL PALESTINIAN PRISONERS BEING UNLAWFULLY HELD IN ISRAELI JAILS - including those who may have “Jewish blood on their hands.”

Hamas’ 240 hostages fall into two categories: Israeli and non-Israeli.

I suppose that the Israeli category could be further subdivided into - hostages ( male , female, and trans of various ranks, who are serving in the Israeli army, and Israeli hostages,  male and female, young ( who - apart from the assiduous  Torah students all do their military service sooner or later) and old who are civilians. I wonder if there are any rabbis among the hostages.

Category 2: of the pecking order: the non-Israelis could also be subdivided into Jew/ Goyim who I suppose will have varying degrees of a very  “high price” as bargaining chips.

Presumably, if the recent case of Joe Biden freeing $ 6 billion to Iran in exchange for five American detainees is anything to go by, American citizens have the highest bargaining power and will therefore probably attract the highest price…

A good bargaining point could begin at 1. Stop the genocide, 2. A ceasefire, 3, a truce, 4, the IDF withdraw from Gaza completely, 5. A Marshall Plan for Gaza and compensation for the victims of their Holocaust, 6. Palestinian Elections within the next year, the political wing of Hamas under whatever name of course most likely to win big in both Gaza and the West Bank. 7. With no unreasonable preconditions,  Direct Negotiations between Israel and a UNITED PALESTINIAN FRONT  - for a two-state solution  - with the Palestinians being entitled to full state status with their own military, Air Force, Navy, their own Police Force and their own border guards.

Gloria in Excelsis Emeagwali,

It’s reassuring to know that we are on the same page in history and on the same side, the side of peace and love, the party of Truth and Justice. To quote John Kerry quoting Abraham Lincoln the Republican, “I don't want to claim that God is on our side. As Abraham Lincoln told us, I want to pray humbly that we are on God's side.”

As you know, the legendary history of Israel as ensconced in Israel’s national epic recounts two major sins.

( 1) the incident of the spies (the supposed genius genesis of  Mossad

(2) The Golden Calf  -which was forgiven, the emphasis there on the worship of gold which apparently still persists, g-o-l-d as the g-o-d, poetically speaking, hence names such as Goldhagen

The legendary history which also recounts the genocidal exploits of Joshua who is said to have conquered the seven nations of Canaan and ”taken” their land because the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob gave their land to him, is the genesis of the Arab -Israel conflict, which, since the advent of Christianity and then Islam, the US Evanagelicals in particular in true 21st century Crusader spirit have been prone to be supporting Israel in the Israel-Arab Conflict seeing the conflict as essentially a continuation of The Crusades and as a conflict between the adherents of the Holy Bible and the adherents of the  Holy Quran That is the crux of the matter. The US presidential elections are just around the corner and Sleepy Joe wants to be sure that he bags the unalloyed support of AIPAC & the so-called Jewish Lobby  - so that at the second presidential debate, even if he would be wobbling on his feet  as he shuffles over to the podium to make his plea you’re likely to hear him beating his chest and either chirping or hollering ( Kamala Harris and Douglas Emhoff in the chorus line) :” As President of the UN-ited States, I stand with Israel forever and ever !” ( Till death do us part)

Well, here is the one and only Donald Trump attacking Joe Biden on the Israel-Hamas war

More seriously, we could take a basic look at Israeli Military Doctrine which I’m sure is not written in stone, or static, since it can’t afford to be, because the enemy/ enemies are as constant as ever and getting more sophisticated  - that’s why in the name of self-preservation, with Uncle Sam by his side, Mr Netanyahu in particular who harbours his own alleged nuclear weapons aiming at every major Muslim or Arab capital as a deterrent is so determined that Iran should not acquire any nuclear device ; he believes that even Hashem his God and Uncle Sam his guardian angel would not be able to help him, not even with a nuclearumbrella if Iran develops a nuclear bomb or two , because Brother Obama’s Iron Dome is OK for shooting down some of the firecrackers being launched by HAMAS from Gaza, but should be more difficult protecting Israel from being obliterated by that stockpile of over 200,000 advanced Hezbollah missiles raining down on Tel Aviv, whilst  the Great Satan knows that just one megaton of the real nuclear thing from Ahamedinejad’s Iran and Jaga-bang ! Samson & Delilah! - it would be all over in Dimona, a  nuclear Guy Fawkes nightmare for the emergency war cabinet meeting in the bunker under the Knesset, the dream of the third temple up in smoke, and as the English poet put it, “ And into ashes all my lust” ( an into ashes=involuntary cremation

Consistent with the Israeli military doctrine, Paul Eidelberg used to talk a lot about one of his war heroes, General George S. Patton; in Israpundit he often quoted the general saying, “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”

Factor in the Muslim world's trade relations with the Crusader countries and that world's heavy reliance on the Dollar Akbar ; perhaps things will change rapidly as they move on imperceptibly to making friends with China
