This is a season to be jolly. Yet, it has been one tragic news of death after the other. Diego Maradona taught our youth that they don’t have to be 6feet 5inches tall (basketball) or weigh 200lbs (American football) to play soccer and excel in it. The ailing Pele and Maradona made soccer popular in America and some of us were and are beneficiaries of their contributions to this world’s most popular sport—soccer or football as we fondly refer to it in the motherland.
I have a portrait of Diego that I bought several years ago in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire or Ivory Coast that I proudly display in my office.
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE AS WE MOURN HIS DEATH!
