Joy on Not Aspiring to Travel to the US

      Oluwatoyin Vincent Adepoju

I'm so grateful I have no aspirations to do anything in the US in this era of the country being run by a xenophobic and inhuman government.

I used to have dreams of having a connection with Silicon Valley and its tech miracle but that dream has been downsized to visiting the place.

Even then, I'm not in a hurry.

I used to dream of attending universities such as Harvard and MIT as  I salivated over their catalogues and stellar faculty  but such dreams have been modified to the idea of fellowships in such places as well as at the Princeton Institute of Advanced Studies where people do nothing all day but lounge in cerebral freedom and dicuss companionably as they are handsomely paid for living the life of the mind,  but that is not a priority.

I would love to explore the Library of Congress, the glorious New York museums,  New York's Central Park, Harlem and other cultural and nature wonders of the great nation, but not if I  have to fear that a shallow minded facist leaning government aiding Israel 's ongoing genocide in Gaza  will go through my social media accounts to see if I have said anything against their inhuman mindset, a government that's can cancel, without explanation the same visa it gave me.

Lord, have mercy on us in this season of escslated inhumanity.

They should keep their visa and the foul, inhuman culture the Trump government represents.

Lord, lead me far from temptation.

Amen.
