This was an interesting piece on the measures countries will take to protest xenophobia. Nigeria recalled their ambassador to South Africa, and pulled out of the World Economic Forum on Africa event that was to take place in South Africa over recent xenophobic violence in the country. I wonder why there still exists such xenophobia in South Africa? It is now a country ruled by Africans, so I would assume that they were more accepting of other Africans, but for some reason they haven't. Thank for for posting this news that I would otherwise never hear about.

Ben,

In reading this article, I had the same question. If officials are taking action that affects the economy, something very important to a citizens everyday life, to end the xenophobic violence, why are the people not responding? Why is there still violence against foreigners? I wonder if there is an action that officials and leaders can take that will stop the xenophobic violence. Could showing people that living a life with an accepting attitude towards all can allow their region to prosper and grow? Could the citizens be motivated by growth of their country that could result in their standard of living improving through peaceful trade and industrial collaboration?
