Dear Tony Eluemunor:

Long time nor read....how you dey?

Although I am a catholic (universal) Christian - and not a Roman Catholic, and so do not believe in the efficacy of "one of the prayers an Angel taught the "visioners" (Lucy, Jacinta and Francesco) to prepare them for the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917 (Our Lady of Fatima) is this: "My God I adore you,  I believe in you, I hope in you, I trust in you and I love you. Have mercy on those who do not adore, believe, hope, trust in you, and who do not love you" - there is no Biblical basis for such mythology - I agree with 100% of all the other sentiments that you expressed below.  I just did not wish to bring myself to respond to Steve Kueberuwa's stupidly insolent and knee-jerk reaction to my initial intervention....others, particularly Vin Otuonye,  have responded  to him sufficiently...the guy is a grumpy near-70-year-old fake hypocrite, with emphasis on both the adjectives and the noun, for who it is that only Nigerian cyberspace would still allow him with his sordid reputation to continue to pontificate with impunity, especially on Christian matters.

Moving on......

The different situations of the two robbers on the Cross with Christ - one mocking, the other confessional and accepting of Christ's innocent Messiahship, and pleading for permanent companionship with HIm in Heaven -  was to teach us about Christ's mercy (not giving us the punishment we deserve) and grace (showering us with the favor that we don't deserve) even  at the point of death.  The important issues though are TRUE heart-felt confession AND acceptance which ONLY God through Christ - not you or I - can know.  But I do not believe that even UNTIL very death you "who do not adore, believe, hope, trust in you, and who do not love" God, will earn his mercy or grace.  That is NOT what the Bible teaches.

Now as you rightly wrote, since no one of us was with Val Ojo at the point of death - or even weeks or months before he passed - we cannot know exactly what his disposition was with the Christ of God.  All we remember was the constant mocking of Christians and Christianity, but I would admit not of Christ Himself, like that fellow Nebu does, who, unless he repents, might be heading for hell in a handbag.  What the Bible teaches though is that the TRUE Christian should STRIVE to ascertain that if he or she DIED at ANY moment, he or she is SURE to go to Heaven.....for the God of Christ is just and NOT capricious to those who TRULY serve and obey Him.  That is the GUARANTEE of true Christianity - Heaven - but the converse of that is not certain Hell, except as CHOSEN by a person himself or herself through un-repentant behavior till the end - again because of the lesson of the repentant robber on the cross.

Now in the Bible, there is a difficult and different aspect for Christians who RENOUNCE the faith.....it appears that God particularly dislikes those who have tasted His grace and mercy, and then turn against Him, the prime example of that being Lucifer himself, previously one of the brightest angels in Heaven before he led a rebellion for which he and several angels-turned-demons were kicked out to roam the Earth.  It is for those the Bible talks about the invasions of demons 7 times the previous one - and hence EVEN more difficult to exorcise.  Again, one does not know whether Val turned against Christ - but rather against Christians and Christianity - but Christ's grace and mercy would have to be huge for him if that was the case - and I hope that was not really the case.

Let me repeat:  I pray for the mercy of the Christ of God for the departed netizen Val Ojo, that his soul permanently repose in peace in His presence, and for the consolation of his family.  And I mean it....I met him face to face but once, but spoke to him a number of  times on the phone, and he was always a gracious and nice and respectful person to speak with.

And there you have it.

I am moving on.....

Dear All,

May the soul of Dr. Valentine Ojo of Tall Timbers rest in perfect peace. I pray the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest.

I'll surely and sorely miss him on these fora. He stood his ground, while cursing and raving, but everyone knew where he stood. On religion, he was not a Christian and he did not pretend about it. So, he was not a hypocrite.  I'm not writing this out of "respect for the dead". I'm writing this out my Catholic belief. Yes, Dr. Val Ojo may not have believed in Jesus. Or he may have stopped believing. But let us not forget the fact that he bore the name Val ... till the bitter end. So, he must have been baptized onto Christ.
The rest is left between him and his God, our God. Only that God will judge him.

It is against the teachings of Christianity, at least it is against the Catholic variant, which I know much about, to declare that a soul is in hell. That is why the church declares some persons to be saints, but it has never declared that anyone is a demon. Instead, it keeps praying for the rest. It is charitable for the leaving to pray for the dead and to allow God the freedom to be God and the ultimate Judge.

It is most likely that Dr. Valentine Ojo of Tall Timbers prayed for forgiveness at the point of death. That period is very terrible. It makes even the valiant shake with fear like a baby. Suddenly the great abyss is open before a person. If Val Ojo managed to pray one little prayer, he may have received a favourable answer. If we believe in the teachings of the Bible, then the salvation of the GOOD THIEF would mean something to us.

Only God knows whether Val Ojo prayed to Him before he died or not. Every Catholic knows that one of the prayers an Angel taught the "visioners" (Lucy, Jacinta and Francesco) to prepare them for the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917 (Our Lady of Fatima) is this: "My God I adore you,  I believe in you, I hope in you, I trust in you and I love you. Have mercy on those who do not adore, believe, hope, trust in you, and who do not love you".

It is possible that Dr. Val Ojo is in heaven now, having been saved by the prayers of others and that the amazing grace of God may have saved him. He might just have uttered one little prayer when it mattered most; at the point of death.

We should be careful about judging others. All of us are tainted. Only the grace of God offers us salvation and opens the gates of heaven for us.

Also, to the person who sent in a litany of those who insulted God and received instant punishment should be careful. I say this not because that would mak God look vindictive, but we have to take into account the parable of the stupid son who asked for his inheritance, wasted it all, and returned when life became unbearable. That is the way of God; he gives all of us a very long rope. Grace of pursues all of us here on Earth till the very end. It is only at the end of life that grace ceases and judgement sets in. Anybody could as easily compile a name of those who died after coming out from  a church, after prayers, or after a lengthy period of good deed. The ways of God are inscrutable. And what if God did not wish any of those listed persons dead? What if He never made the Titanic to sink? Would it be right to attribute to God the loss of life that He never caused? He should be careful when discussing God!

Brothers and sisters, my soul mourns - for Tony Egbe and Val Ojo.

Thanks.

Tony Eluemunor.

What Olugbenga outlined below is the bizarre thoughtless  degree to which fanatical God advocates can insult their God. Based on everything illustrated by this religionist, God is vindictive, homicidal, and blood thirsty. If that is what the purveyors of this illustration are using to catch souls, why would any rational person have anything to do with such a phenomenon?

Let us subject a few of Olugbenga's childish illustrations to reason.

(1) Bernard Shaw puffed out cigarette smoke and gave credit to God for that but God struck him dead with cancer over that.
(2) The builder of the Titanic was exceptionally proud of his work and thus boasted of his confidence in it by saying that God could not even sink it. For that, God sank the Titanic and through that sinking slew 1,503 people -- men, women, and children in their sleep -- in the horrendous dark frigid ocean.
(3) Marilyn Monroe waved off someone whose conduct appeared boorish, perverse, and certainly intrusive and for that God struck her dead within a week.
(4) Bon Scott, who was ACDC front man, he was never an ex-vocalist while he was alive, sang: ''Don't stop me, I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell'' (a metaphor for uninhibited revelry, especially of drunkenness), and for that God struck him dead.

The summary of everything conjured up in the above illustrations is that God is wicked, vindictive, sociopathic, and merciless. Fortunately for genuine believers in a rational God, nothing conjured up by fanatical Christians and attributed to their God could ever have come from a rational God. All of those folks would not have lived for ever, they would have died one way or the other at anytime, even if they did not say what they were alleged to have said.

Why are fanatical Christians, who reason like Olugbenga, so vindictive and unimaginative to the extent of attributing their disability in thinking to their God? Can Olugbenga and his fellow fanatical Christians allow Valentine Ojo and Tony Egbe to rest in peace?

Vengeance is of God Almighty. Nobody can help God to fight His course rather He is the one that help human being to fight their courses. We should also learn not to judge as it is of God.

Take cue from this;

BERNARD SHAW while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said '' God that's for you''

He died of LUNG CANCER at the age of 32 in a horrible manner.

The man who built the Titanic  :  After the construction, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be     With an ironic tone he  said 'Not even God can sink it'    The result of what happened to Titanic is known by all'

Marilyn Monroe (Actress)   She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show  '' He said the spirit of God had sent him to preach to her.  After hearing what the preacher had to say, she said    ''I don't need your God''

A week later, she was found dead in her apartment

Bon Scott (singer)   The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang   ''Dont stop me, I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell''   On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit

Campinas (IN2005)

In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend......    The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car:

''My daughter , Go with God And May He Protect You''

She reported: ''Only if He (God) Travels in the Trunk, Cause Inside Here...... It's Already Full''

Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died. the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact.

The Police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken!!!

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written.

In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle. God is powerful and many have forgotten the fact that no other name was given so much authority as the name of God.   THAT IS HOW IT IS  right from the beginning

I will continue to miss Dr. Ojo. However, it will be most unreasonable to pray for commitment of his soul to Jesus Christ because, while Val lived, he never believed in the Almighty God. Indeed he was a thorn all over the flesh of the Saints of God --he was particularly brutal on Evangelist, Noyo Edem.

So, where exactly is Val's soul heading? The Holy Bible is clear on that question, and there is no amount of prayers that will make the Almighty God to reward Val Ojo for what he never believed in or worked for, while he had the opportunity to accept Christ as his Lord and savior. Unless he repented and accepted Christ in his last days or even minutes with humanity.

While what I have said may sound ridiculous and perhaps insensitive, especially at this difficult time for Val's family, it remains a fact and a useful warning to those who have been condemning Christianity --like Val was fond of doing while had breath. It is particularly a useful warning to Mazi Nebu Adiele --Mister "reject religion, revive reasoning." He has the opportunity now to accept Christ as his savior. He should not blow it.

Cheers to facts,

Collins Ezebuihe.

I want to correct Nebu. When a person dies, his soul returns to His Maker and that is in the Quran and Bible. Please do not distort the truth.
I too used to read Tony Egbe's blog contributions and I vividly recall some brief exchanges between I and him, though not in animosity.

May Val Ojo find peace wherever he may be - in the bosom of Olodumare, the divine godhead of the Yoruba and the ancestral guardians of the earth to which he returns, or to the embrace of the merciful God whom the Christians equally believe grants reprieve to all earthly transgression. If nullity be the great purpose of the earth, may he become one with the earth, for afterall, all is nought, and to nought we return.
