414 days after 7th October 2023, a war that the Israelis are adamant is a “ war on terror” - a term coined by George W Bush after the September 11 attacks: in the last 24 hours with the heinous abduction and murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement the war has entered yet another dangerous phase and to describe and condemn it a new term has entered the terror vocabulary : Anti-semitic Terrorism
Given the universal levels of hatred/ antisemitism/ revulsion now at a boiling point, not only in the Muslim world, about the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the pogroms and landgrabs in the West Bank and the IDF’s indiscriminate bombing, wanton destruction of life and infrastructure in Lebanon where the massacres of Sabra and Shatila notwithstanding, Muslims and Christians have co-existed since the birth of Jesus and the Prophet of Islam sallallahu alaihi wa salaam - The Lebanon in the Bible the Bible which talks about “the cedars of Lebanon” the tree that is the emblem on their flag, Lebanon , the Lebanon that was founded in 1920, Lebanon, pride of the Middle East once boasting with pride about one of the most notable and functioning banking system worldwide, prosperous businesses, most exquisite cuisine and restaurants, publishing houses (books), entertainment, the performing arts, bellydancing,tourism etc now being bombed into rubble and ruin on a daily basis by the iDF.
The implications of the innocent rabbi’s abduction and murder are nightmarish. My first thought was 2024: The Jews in Iran, now said to be about 9,000 souls , but thank God - despite all the threats of all-out-war between Great Satan and Great Satan’s partner “ little satan” and their ungodly and satanic nuclear bomb like the little satan that was dropped on Hiroshima and called “Little boy” despite all these threats and tensions, at no time has the Islamic Republic threatened to hold the Iranian Jews and their Rabbis in Iran as hostages or bargaining chips….
The most dreadful thought possible : What if they started kidnapping rabbis in the US, UK, France, EU, Australia, Indonesia, the Caribbean and South America, throughout the Muslim world, kidnapping and torturing and other forms of ANTISEMITIC TERRORISM ? What would happen then? The IDF would threaten to nuke the capitals of such countries? The iDF would start or continue with their own reprisal kidnappings of their own ? Just a thought, absolutely not poetry
