For 252 papers to mention one's work, does  that not suggest that one is doing unusually well in the world of knowledge?

Have you tried looking up at least 50 and at most 100 of those academia.edu references to verify them?

Please dont be offended by my effort at looking at this issue critically.

I trust Academia, hence I see no reason to investigate, but it seems that you don't trust them and so, you and any other researchers who don't trust them should do the investigation and let us know what you found.

By the way, you and some well known Nigerian academicians are part of the "252".

Finally, the "252" refers to only papers uploaded to Academia. If one adds those uploaded to other portals, like Researchgate, the number will increase substantially.

Chidi,

I admire you very much and always enjoy two things about you: Poetry and your non-conformist stance - you don't always stand where everyone stands and you do so unapologetically. You are, truly, and in my book, a good poet!

But please tell me, why would you take the much-precious time to start searching for who has cited you? What do you stand to gain for engaging in such petty activity? I don't get it.

I did not search, they(Academia) sends them to me via email.

Anyone who posts on Academia and not on their "premium" would confirm that they usually send such emails and ask that you pay for "premium" so that you can get the details of the mentions.

I dont understand why searching for who has cited one is seen as a petty activity.

Citations imply that others are not only noticing one's work but using it.

One could also try to understand the manner in which people respond to one's work.

In bringing out new editions of a book, the author could respond, through a preface, or through modifications in the text, to responses to their work.

If writing is understood as a conversation across space and time, should an author ignore those who have taken up the conversation from the point one intervened in it?

Methinks that you missed the context in which Michael spoke.

I am of the opinion that he spoke in the context of allocating time needed for more important things to searching for mentions, I have responded to him within that context.
