Congratulations are in order to our friend, the indefatigable and unrepentant advocate of African culture and ardent promoter of indigenous films! May the wreaths of honor rest comfortably on the brows of the legend filmmaker.
For those who may not know, Chief Kelani (aka TK) was a guest at one of our sessions during TOFAC, where coincidentally discourse shifted to the issue of funding for his works. He admitted how badly he had struggled over the years. He said humorously that others may be afraid of being kidnapped by some herdsmen/kidnappers, those would be least of his worry. His real worry would always be being nabbed one day by some of his creditors because he owes so much in debt in his efforts at making sure some of our creative works are duly produced in films and documentaries.
The challenge is for all of us in the academic community to rally round and support the efforts of this great man. We don't have too many of them around. We must do something. It's a Macedonian Call!
