Description: Our client is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to be responsible for communicating project status; project risks and mitigation strategies; and project dependencies to both the Enterprise Management management team and the project’s stakeholders.
Basic Function: The Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for owning and leading the development of individual software development projects. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that those projects are executed with a high level of technical excellence; with demonstrable functional and technical quality; and within allotted timeframes. In the course of executing these projects, the engineer is responsible for working closely with other members of the software development team, Enterprise Management management team and project stakeholders from other departments.
The position requires the person to utilize their advanced level of knowledge in the Microsoft .NET development platform, XML web service architectures and AJAX-style web development methodologies. The position will also expose the individual to related development platforms and approaches, including: Java based web solutions; multiple RDBMS environments; various application security technologies; and network monitoring and management systems.
The Sr. Software Engineer will participate in architectural decision making processes for the various Enterprise Management technical platforms, and be responsible for research into new technologies and platforms pertinent to the Enterprise Management application portfolio.
Position Responsibilities
-Act as the technical lead for software development projects
-Perform actual software development work (coding and unit testing)
-Participate in requirement gathering and analysis activities
-Participate in platform-level architectural decisions
Qualifications:
• College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum 7 yrs experience in software development
• Minimum of 3 years experience working with the Microsoft .NET development platform, specifically with the C# language.
• Minimum of 5 years experience working on web-based software solutions.
• Minimum of 5 years experience working with JavaScript scripting of the HTML DOM.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working with XML Web Services.
• Experience working on technologies that are in the “infancy” phase of the adoption curve.
• A detailed understanding of the XML, XSL, XSLT, XML Schema and XPATH standards.
• Proficiency with Unix, Linux and Windows server environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle 8 and 9.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a highly technical, fast paced environment.
Preferred Requirements:
• Experience developing multi-threaded .NET applications.
• Experience developing for MSMQ or another queuing technology.
• Experience developing Windows Services in .NET.
• Proficiency with Java and the AXIS Web Service architecture.
• In-Depth knowledge of the SOAP and WS-Sec protocol standards.
• Proficiency working with database stored-procedures, triggers and functions.
• Experience designing and implementing data modes within an RDBMS.
• Experience working with the LDAP protocol.
• Experience working with the MySQL RDBMS platform.
• Experience performing web application stress testing.
• Experience working in object oriented software architectures.
• Basic understanding of Internet architectures, including DNS, Peering, Firewalls.
