The Role in Brief: We are currently seeking individuals who will serve as full-time faculty for the Physician Leadership Academy. The Advisory Board Academies are a shared endeavor of the Advisory Board and the nation's leading medical centers-joined in the purpose of improving quality and efficiency in American health care by strengthening the leadership rank. Through the development of a shared national-standard curriculum, teaching materials, assessment tools, faculty, and faculty training, the Academy supports a robust program for developing health care leaders. Position Info: Directors in the Academies lead one to two-day retreats for physician audiences ranging in size from 20 to 200 people. Our PLA faculty lead interactive forums in which physicians in leadership positions can learn from each other and master new skills to enhance their own performance. The Academies are currently partnering with more than three hundred hospitals and health systems across the country. Responsibilities: • Facilitate approximately 115 on-site meetings and simulation exercises annually around the United States (compensation is on a per-session basis) and travel to Washington DC 12-15 times per year. • Deliver lectures and case studies with clarity • Respond to audience questions and concerns--speakers must call on an extensive knowledge of business practices in order to address issues raised by our research and presentations • Serve as the primary content expert with clients and members • Contribute to the design of teaching modules and exercises • Create enthusiasm for change by presenting material in a manner that draws from and builds upon the current knowledge of an experienced audience

Qualifications: Experience/Attributes: • M.D. degree required • Understanding of hospital management and operations issues • Exceptional presentation, discussion facilitation and teaching skills • Superior analytical skills and comfort with quantitative and analytical tools • Solid grounding in business concepts and dynamics • Maturity, poise and grace under pressure • Strong relationship building skills • Ease in establishing trust and rapport with others • Adjunct faculty may reside anywhere in the U.S.; willingness to travel full-time (80-100%) anywhere in the Unites States to conduct sessions and to attend selected training sessions and occasional meetings at the firm's Washington, DC headquarters • Outstanding records of academic and professional achievement
