More information about this job: Overview: The Academies are a shared endeavor of the Advisory Board and the nation's leading medical centers-joined in the purpose of strengthening the leadership, business, and operations skills of hospital and health system executives and managers. Currently five Academy offerings are available: the Nursing Leadership Academy, which is dedicated to lifting the leadership rank in American nursing; the Center for Frontline Nursing, addressing leadership and accountability for those involved in direct patient care; the Physician Leadership Academy, which aims to facilitate leadership development for physicians; the Health Care Leadership Academy, which serves managers across hospital divisions; and the Academy Fellowship, which is accelerated development for next-generation hospital leaders.
Position Info: Consultants will spearhead and manage the conception and design of training and development tools and modules designed to help health care leaders master the leadership, business and operations skills required to succeed in their roles. Responsibilities: • Conduct research on key leadership, business and hospital operations topics to be covered in classroom training sessions and independent study modules for health care leaders • Distill large amounts of information and data from multiple sources into meaningful conclusions, and prepare thoughtful, accurate, and detailed summaries of those conclusions • Design, develop, write text and create graphics for training modules that lift out key insights and maximize participants' learning • Contribute to overall curriculum planning and product design efforts • Design and develop diagnostic and progress assessment tools designed to measure the development needs of health care leaders and their progress in meeting development objectives • Teach content of training modules to speakers and facilitators who serve as Academy faculty
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess: • Outstanding record of achievement with regard to quality of work, professionalism, work ethic, analysis, resourcefulness, and creativity • Independence and resourcefulness necessary to complete research assignments and develop hypotheses with moderate amount of direction • Strong research skills, using both primary and secondary sources of information; fundamental knowledge of business research resources • Ability to learn quickly and make sense of confusing, uncertain, or difficult research terrain • Acute intellectual curiosity (i.e., the instinct to "go deeper" on interesting, often unexpected information) • Strong analytical and synthesis skills; ability to condense extensive research findings into relevant, actionable insights for managers • Ability to clearly and precisely express complex ideas in written and graphical form • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously and to a very high standard • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of constituencies inside and outside the firm, particularly senior executives at partner hospitals • Maturity, poise, discretion, positive attitude, entrepreneurial spirit, and grace under pressure • Unflagging attention to detail and commitment to managing around deadlines with tolerance for ambiguity and shifts in direction
