Length: Six months
A federal agency with offices in Braintree is looking for an
intermediate technical writer to document a healthcare resource
allocation system.
The documentation will have various audiences with different levels of
operational, managerial and technical backgrounds. The non-technical
documentation will present the big picture overview of the system.
This will involve documenting the conceptual framework and the intent
of the system. It will describe the processes and how they support
the policy decisions that have been made.
The technical documentation will focus on internal users and be a
document the staff could use as a resource for new employees, for
backup purposes and for tracking changes. The documentation will
include the entire process, the inputs, the process flow and
dependencies and the process outputs. This will include the type of
programming language and database structures that are used. It will
document the specific tasks required to accomplish each step in the
process and document the actions that ensure the validity and
integrity of all the parts.
You will start by updating the current system manuals. The
information in these documents is part general and part technical.
This will require interviews to be conducted with staff to ensure that
the information is accurate and up to date. In the process the you
will become informed about the details of the system. Then you will
proceed to document the rest of the system.
This is an on-site contract in Braintree.
