ALL: question about new newsgroup

Yes. There is an attempt being made by Jamie Gritton to create a USA only
list of newsgroups. The object being to keep postings that are relevant
only to the USA from flooding nets around the world, unless the sites want
USA only stuff.

Some of the new groups make sense, others don't. I don't know if Jamie
realizes that US soaps are actually shown on foreign TV...I'll drop him a
note about this.

There may never be any articles posted there...it's not clear if the new
heirarchy will actually get started or not. This article is cross-posted
to that group...and us.groups, so he'll see it.

I hope not as well. There is a poster now who lives in France and
is due to return to the U.S. soon and other posters from Austrailia
who contribute to the Y&R discussion.

I thought our system made full use of USENET. I tried to subscribe to
this group and was told it didn't exist. Hmmmmm....
