Very few places, but it does exist. For a feed close to you (at least
close in my Western way of thinking), you may want to talk to Jurgen
Botz (jb...@orixa.mtholyoke.edu). (Hope he didn't mind the reference).
There's somewhat over 100 sites carrying it.

No. Evidently Gene is among the crowd that thinks either it
shouldn't exist at all or should only exist after being voted on
(which has never been the case with regional hierarchies). With David
Lawrence supporting the same view, us.* has a hard time being heard of
at all.

Ah, there's the rub. Currently, there's almost nothing: admin stuff
(us.groups etc) and some duplicates of main hierarchy groups (i.e.
us.forsale.misc) made in a failed attempt to drum up interest in the
hierarchy. There've been a couple of "almost" groups, but the
proponents decided in the end to go with alt instead (thus passing
they're US-specific stuff all over the world - what we're trying to
avoid). Catch 22: people don't want to carry us.* until it has a
decent number of interesting groups. People don't want to create
groups there unless they'll have a decent number of readers.
After all my optimism about creating the hierarchy without a formal
vote, I plan to buckle under and go the formal news.announce.newgroups
RFD/CFV way with it. I need to get together with David Lawrence on
this; look for an RFD in perhaps January.
