I have a reproduction painting/Copy on a small gold painted wooden box. It
looks like a medieval girl with pearls around her neck and hair. I am sure the
original is very famous but I don't have a clue about it. It is a wonderful
profile of her. Is there a newsgroup I should go to they can tell me more about
this painting and where it may be on display.? I think it may be a "Roman Girl"
but don't know. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for posting to us.arts.
I don't know of any newsgroups which discuss works of art
directly. Your best bet would be to search the 'art' sites on the
World Wide Web. You may wish to try the US National Gallery
of Art. Or do a search on 'Roman Girl' or 'art wooden boxes'.
