Title: SQL Database Administrator

Location: Kansas City, Missouri

Duration: 6 months +

JD:

 

The DBA III will work closely with members of the Software Engineering Team, the Quality Assurance team, Project Managers, and Business Annalists to write accurate and efficient T-SQL code to support mission-critical transaction processing OLTP and OLAP application databases.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

* Provide support for query optimization, data analysis, and database tuning.

* Maintain documentation of database and all database object metadata.

 

* Build database schema, tables, and complex stored procedures to support new development initiatives as well as provide support for existing applications.

* Develop ETL solutions.

* Identify, recommend, and implement appropriate security to SQL Server database schemas.

 

* Provide primary support to mission-critical applications and processes via database changes and tuning.

* Participate with other members of the DBA team to monitor SQL Server performance via established monitoring tools and recommend/implement corrective, proactive action to ensure production systems support business needs.

* Participate in “front-line” 24/7 on-call support for assigned database systems/processes and participate in periodic Application Deployments to production.

* Ensure Coding/DB standards are met via review process.

 

* Ensure project deliverables and timelines are accurate to specifications and successfully met.

 

* Participate in occasional strategy and roadmap discussions

 

 

Experience in the following areas is required

 

* At least 6 years’ experience with developing and administering solutions for SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2016, and 2017.

* Expert knowledge of ANSI Standard Transact-SQL and latest Transact-SQL query language enhancements.

* Experience with AlwaysOn clusters.

 

* Strong experience maintaining enterprise-level databases including administration, optimization, tuning, backup and restore procedures.

* Experience with delivering and supporting large, high-performance databases across multiple SQL Instances.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

 

Experience in the following areas is a plus:

 

* Experience working with a data warehouse and an understanding of star schemas and database de-normalization using OLAP databases.

 

 

* ETL Methodologies.

 

* SQL Server SQL Agent and other Automation tools.

* Experience working with servers and databases in Azure in a PaaS and/or IaaS environment.

* Experience working with GIT version control systems

* Experience with automated deploys of SQL objects
