Titile: Senior Telecom Engineer

Locattion: Des Moines,IA

Experience Required

• Have knowledge of protocols, topologies and technologies (HTTP, SNMP, TCP/IP, FTP, TDM, DWDM, SONET, WAN, LAN, Ethernet, ATM, etc
• Have a working knowledge of TCP/IP.
• Have knowledge of path and trunking.
• Have the ability to interpret and write concise technical reports
• Have knowledge of and be able to use standard MS Office applications and understand Visio and CAD drawings.
• Assess performance levels of system hardware and software to project future needs, and develop short and long term plans for updating equipment
• Monitor telecommunications systems to assess need for updates, upgrades, enhancements, preventive maintenance and or replacement systems.
• Determine the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines and related equipment
• Determine appropriate configurations of telecommunications hardware and software to ensure desired performance of telecommunications equipment
  
   
  
  Job Dsecription:

The Senior Telecom Engineer should have experience in telecommunications or related network field, such as data network design with experience designing and/or engineering telecommunication network systems & installations

Position Requirements:

Plan, design, build, configure and commission telecommunications devices, networks and systems, such as; voice, Internet, data, microwave and ensure telecommunications systems interconnect with equipment from different manufacturers, different service providers and different users

Compile engineering project proposals to define goals, identify scope, background and need, and ascertain cost of equipment, parts and services.

• Prepare and interpret specifications, drawings and regulations for the use of telecommunications equipment.
• Assist with evaluation and procurement of new products and services from vendors.
• Comply with laws, regulations, policies and procedures in the provision of telecommunications systems.
• Assist with selection and development of new telecommunications site(s) by; locating site, preparing appropriate documentation and drafting construction drawings for approval.
• Determine appropriate configurations of telecommunications hardware and software to ensure desired performance of telecommunications equipment.
• Determine the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines and related equipment.

Engineer(s) shall possess excellent customer services skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers about proper location of equipment and desired services.

Engineer(s) shall possess superior soft skills including the ability to work with clients, work on a team, and adapt to existing ICN processes.

Engineer(s)  shall have the ability to complete assignments timely and submit weekly status reports indicating progress on assigned tasks, to meet assigned project due dates, and to identify and suggest resolutions for issues having a potential to adversely impact performance and/or the project.

Engineer(s) shall maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of ICN staff, as well as present a positive team-oriented attitude and customer focus.

Engineer(s) shall adhere to all work rules and processes provided by the ICN project manager.

Engineer(s) shall be able to produce written and verbal English language instructions.

Engineer(s) shall understand the written and verbal English language, presentation materials, documentation, requirement statements, problem descriptions and other forms of communication for interaction with team members and managers.

Engineer(s) shall have knowledge of communications network structure and design parameters comparable to current ICN network.
