Job Title: SQL Developer (Performance Tuning, Capital Markets)

Contract Position

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

SQL Development:

• Design and develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support business requirements.
• Collaborate with software engineers and data analysts to design efficient database schemas and optimize database performance.
• Implement data migration, transformation, and integration processes to ensure seamless data flow across systems.

 

Database Administration:

• Manage and maintain database systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of SQL Server instances.
• Monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement, implementing solutions to enhance system scalability and reliability.
• Perform routine database maintenance tasks, such as backups, restores, and database refreshes, ensuring data integrity and availability.

 

Performance Tuning:

• Conduct performance tuning and optimization activities to improve query performance, reduce execution time, and optimize resource utilization.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks by analyzing query execution plans, index usage, and system resource consumption.
• Implement indexing strategies, partitioning techniques, and caching mechanisms to optimize database performance for capital markets applications.

 

Capital Markets Expertise:

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of capital markets concepts, including financial instruments, trading strategies, and market data analysis.
• Apply domain knowledge to design and implement database solutions tailored to the specific requirements of capital markets applications.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data needs, and deliver solutions that meet regulatory and compliance standards.

 

Documentation and Compliance:

• Document database designs, configurations, and performance tuning activities, maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, data privacy laws, and internal security policies, implementing measures to safeguard sensitive financial data.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a SQL Developer/DBA, with a focus on performance tuning and capital markets.
• Strong proficiency in SQL programming, database design, and optimization techniques.
• Experience with SQL Server database administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with capital markets systems, financial products, and trading platforms.
• Solid understanding of database performance tuning principles and techniques.
• Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
