Position : Business Intelligence BSA
Duration : 6+ months
Location : Columbus, OH

The BI BSA is mainly responsible for working with business leaders and BI
consumers to identify reporting and analytical requirements, independently
developing business requirement documents and technical and functional
specifications, and working with BI developers to interpret specifications for
product development.
Much of the analysis work involves interviewing business owners and gathering
requirements. This role is similar to a business systems analyst and/or system
analyst role with a specialization in analytic reporting and decision
support. The BI BSA will also be involved with prototyping/wireframes and
will need a good understanding of business intelligence reporting tools
(specifically MicroStrategy for this particular role).
Essential Functions:
•
Independently participate in requirements documentation, technical and
functional specifications, and definition of acceptance criteria. Document
issues and participate in their resolution.

Translate business needs into high-level technical specifications and design.
• Work
closely with development and business teams to understand and interpret
business requirements.
•
Develop deep understanding of the current BI deliverables to determine impact
and integration of new projects.
• Work
with the team to ensure the highest quality product delivery.
• Work
closely with cross functional teams and across organizational boundaries to
gather requirements, define solutions, implement new tools and process, and
provide ongoing support to these teams.
•
Communicate cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and
informal settings.
Qualifications
Business intelligence analysts are business systems analysts with a specialty
in analytic reporting and decision support systems. They need extensive
analysis experience combined with an excellent knowledge of business
intelligence reporting tools - in this case, specifically MicroStrategy.
They must be able to work quickly and independently while delivering
high-quality outputs. Use strong organizational skills for tracking multiple
deliverables simultaneously and be able to synthesize the results. Pay
meticulous attention to detail; the ability to juggle many tasks in parallel
without lowering the bar on quality. Collaborate with developers to understand
features and technical implementation and ensure highest quality product
delivery. Develop deep understanding of the business/technical BI domain.
Minimum Qualifications
A Combination of
Education and Work Experience May Be Considered.
•
Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Science or related field required
• 3+
years related experience developing requirements for BI/Reporting/Analytics
•
Working knowledge of BI and data warehouse concepts and terminology (Kimball)
•
Hands-on experience running queries and creating reports
•
Experience with analytical programming languages such as SQL
•
Excellent written and oral communication skills
•
Ability to thrive in ambiguity and rapid change
•
Meticulous attention to detail; the ability to juggle several tasks in parallel
•
Detail-oriented person who is passionate about quality and enthusiastic about
new technology offered to customers

Requirements/Preferences
• 1 to
3 years working in financial services industry, directly with data and
reporting systems, preferred
• 1 to
2 years of experience developing reporting solutions using MicroStrategy,
preferred
• 1 to
3 years power user level experience on a top tier BI tool (Cognos,
Microstrategy, etc), preferred

Experience with process flow diagrams
