JOB DESCRIPTION:

SCOPE OF SERVICES 

·         Client is seeking an experienced Tableau Developer within the newly formed Data and Technology group reporting to the Data Manager.

·         The Tableau Developer will work with various internal groups including program and research staff to design and implement dashboards and reports.

·         The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to apply global filters and implement complex parameter-based calculations using large volumes of data from multiple data sources.

·         The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent problem solving skills, teamwork, and time management. The Tableau Developer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

·         Work with business users to understand and gather visualization requirements;

·         Design and develop data visualizations and dashboards using Tableau Desktop and Server;

·         Iteratively develop dashboards through a cycle of presentation of working product to solicit feedback and make enhancements;

·         Data optimization through the transformation of large volume datasets through filtering, grouping, aggregation, and statistical calculations;

·         Data scrubbing, cleaning and blending;

·         Performance tuning of dashboards;

·         Schedule reports & data refresh in Tableau Server;

·         Publish reports to agency website using Java APIs;

·         Conduct testing before deployment to production servers;

·         Perform periodic updates to the dashboards and workbooks;

·         Document development procedures and calculations; 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

·         Portfolio of project work that demonstrates experience and overall ability. 

MANDATORY SKILLS:

·         The candidate must have at least 2 years work experience in developing dashboard and data visualization using Tableau;

·         Demonstrated expertise in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server;

·         Experience with relational databases (Oracle);

·         Strong SQL skills;

·         Good understanding of conceptual, logical, physical data modeling concepts

·         Experience in performing data and system analysis to determine the most effective solution to meet business needs.

·         Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills

·         Ability to self-manage timelines and deliverables and also work in a team environment

·         Experience working in a large, fast-paced work environment

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

·         Programming experience in R, Python or Java;

·         Experience with Tableau SDK and APIs for implementing custom interfaces, scheduling extracts and related activities.
