Mandatory

•             Four or more years work experience with NetApp or other enterprise level backup/storage platforms in particular NetApp E and FAS series systems

•             Experience with Cloud Storage, archive backup on AWS or Azure

•             Experience with NetApp cDOT and 7-Mode storage systems including migration of 7-Mode to cDOT.

•             Experience with NetApp Snap Protect, Snap Vault, Snapshot and Snap Mirror technology

•             Disaster Recovery concepts and architectures

•             Multipathing best practices for iSCSI attached LUNs

•             Experience working on both Linux and Windows based systems.  Preferable experience with Red Hat based Linux distributions such as CentOS and Scientific Linux

•             Familiarization with virtualization systems such as KVM and/or VMware vSphere 5.5

•             Experience with NFS integration and administration.

•             Familiarity with Object Storage

•             Familiarity with Hadoop and Parallel file systems

•             Experience working with technical and scientific colleagues to implement backup and recovery solutions on heterogeneous computing environments

•             Experience with system and network monitoring tools

•             Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on preparing clear and concise communication and giving oral presentations

•             Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail

•             Ability to assimilate new knowledge and apply it quickly in a fast-paced, dynamically changing environment

•             Critical thinking and reasoning ability is an essential part of this position

•             Ability to understand systems and system concepts; ability to break down complex user requirements into easy-to implement solutions is an important part of this position

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Rank      Major Duties & Responsibilities:

1.      Configure, manage and support a NetApp based storage appliances, backup and recovery systems of the scientific computing environment to make computing programs within the institution stronger and more efficient

2.      Monitor and maintain all storage and backup infrastructure including servers and local or external disk arrays.

3.      Support monitoring systems such as Nagios by including various shell and Perl script to monitor the computing environment

4.      Troubleshoot backup and restore related problems and server monitoring

5.      Administer Netapp E series and FAS series storage systems

6.      Configure storage units, storage devices, aggregates, volumes, CIFS and NFS shares

7.      Performance monitoring and tuning of Netapp Storage system in addition to Snap Protect backup software and Snap Mirror

8.      Report to the  IT Infrastructure Team Lead and/or the  IT Manager on the status of project tasks and project risks and issues for resolution and make necessary capacity planning to accommodate scientific growth

9.      Ability to perform knowledge transfer and high level training on NetApp storage and backup best practices  to  Infrastructure team

10.   Support a VMware cluster environment

11.   Implement and Support Cloud based backup solution (on-cloud manager and similar)
