Critical Key requirements

·         Perform 2003 Windows servers’ upgrade and virtualization to Windows 2008 and 2012 platforms.

·         Experience desired with Windows Server IIS 7.5 or above, Source Safe, Active Directory, Oracle Database 10g, 11g, Team Foundation Server 2013, SQL Server, Classic ASP

·         Provide server admin support for applications developed on Visual Studio 2010 .Net or above and Visual Basic platforms. 

·         Excellent organizational skills, project management skills and detail orientation

 

Background

The MTA IT Enterprise Bus Applications group is seeking a temporary consultant to provide server administration support to the 2003 Server Upgrade project.

 

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.      Revise .Net applications to ensure proper functionality after migration to the Windows 2012 platform.

2.      Perform 2003 Windows servers’ upgrade and virtualization to Windows 2008 and 2012 platforms.

3.      Provide server admin support for applications developed on Visual Studio 2010 .Net or above and Visual Basic platforms. 

4.      Ensure timely and effective delivery of server upgrades and new configurations.

5.      Configure and maintain development, test and production servers. Support development, test and production servers including after-hours support and monitoring server usage and up-time.

6.      Provide support in complex problem-solving situations, address questions about technical problems and interact directly with internal staff as required. Identify process improvement opportunities.

7.      Track servers’ activity, identify potential issues and act proactively to prevent anticipated problems

8.      Build and maintain the servers required for development work, internal testing, customer testing and production environments.

9.      Maintain access privileges and account groups.

10.  Design, implement and maintain a consistent backup and disaster recovery plan (for applications, not hardware).

11.  Document technical requirements, develop and oversee project plans and implement change control procedures. Mentor associates and foster a learning and growth environment.

 

RiskS

·         Consultant will be working in the office environment

·         NO work will be performed within 50 feet of track right-of-way

·         No work may involve areas with environmental risks (lead, asbestos)

All source files will be provided to the MTA.

 

CONSULTANT Qualifications

·         A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a server administrator position, Bachelor Degree in Computer Science

·         Experience desired with Windows Server IIS 7.5 or above, Source Safe, Active Directory, Oracle Database 10g, 11g, Team Foundation Server 2013, SQL Server 2005 & above

·         MS Certification desired: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), SQL Server, Server Infrastructure or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Windows Server 2012, 2008, knowledge of Web based architecture and systems development life cycle (SDLC),

·         Excellent organizational skills, project management skills and detail orientation

·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within tight deadlines

·         Ability to manage rapidly and frequently changing priorities

·         Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
