Job Description
The Data Modeler is responsible for leading data analysis across different
projects with diverse scope, complex business and technical requirements.
This role requires working autonomously and under consultative direction for
achieving organizational strategic data goals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Participate in
requirement and analysis sessions across different projects & key
initiatives
- Contribute to data
analysis strategy and create required data analysis components
- Assess objectives, use
cases, data requirements and specifications documents created by other
analysts
- Analyze and resolve
major data issues that arise during the course of project
- Define conceptual and logical
data models to capture organizational data needs across multiple subject
areas
- Create physical design
from logical data models for new and existing systems
- Create dimensional
data models using tool of choice such as Oracle Data Modeler, Erwin or
Power BI.
- Research to identify
effective data designs, new tools and methodologies for data analysis
- Act as reviewer and
facilitator in data model review.
- Provide guidance and
expertise to development community in effective implementation of data
models and building better data access services
- Collaborate with DBAs,
architects, subject area owners to create scalable data models
- Identify opportunities
to leverage enterprise data model for new projects to minimize work and
data redundancy
Education and Experience
- Solid experience in
conceptual, logical and physical data modeling.
- 5+ years of experience
with data design, analysis and development.
Skills and Knowledge
- Advanced analytical
and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced understanding
of the database development process including analysis, design, coding,
testing, problem resolution and planning.
- Excellent verbal and
written skills to effectively communicate with technical and
non-technical associates in the company.
- Strong ability to work
across project teams and develop positive working relationships with
peers and senior management.
- Familiar with the
Kimball Method.
