Need:
a senior project manager for a few months to support an increase in work at our biggest division
several projects will have something to do with our Oracle ERP so the candidate needs to have experience working in this kind of environment including ERP SDLC (even if it was not Oracle)
Our methodology is relatively compatible with PMI , someone who might have a bit of Agile or iterative might not hurt
We prefer someone local so we do not have to deal with T&E expenses. The job would be either at our Mequon or Saukville (port Washington) facility
Communication, team work is critical at charter, particularly with that division. Great listening skills, quick learner etc..
We are a manufacturing company so we need someone who has done PM work for a manufacturing company, this excludes PMs who have spent most of their careers in insurance, banking or healthcare
1. Does this Project Manager need to be PMP certified? Preferred yes
2. What’s the team size and budget size? It’s all internal resources so no budget per say, typically responsible for 3-4 medium size projects, size of teams 5-8 internals, sometime more, sometime less. PMs need to be quite adaptable as demand fluctuates
3. Are you looking for a Oracle or SAP Project Manager or are you looking for a Project Manager that’s worked in an Oracle or SAP environment?
We are not talking about an implementation of Oracle or SAP so yes someone who has worked managing projects that can lead to an enhancement of our ERP or upgrade or adding of a new functionality. It’s difficult to PM those projects if you are not familiar with the SDLC associated with those type of projects
4. What’s the duration? You mention a few months. Is this 2, 3, or 4 months? This will also be a factor on what resources are going to request for a rate. Typically, a shorter duration less than 6 months and the resource will increase their rates.
Idea would be to keep this resource until end of March 2019 (for now) or so but I can only sign initial PO until end of 2018 until I get confirmation our 2019 budget is approved or my boss gives the ok to go ahead right away until end of March
6. Is there a certain personality that will fit in best for this role? , good listener but great communicator, trusting personality, team player, action oriented, strong technical expertise but some business acumen too as there is a lot of exposure to leadership of our largest business unit (Charter steel), time management and effective planning skills , that’s all I can think of for now
