Leadership or Management background would be a plus. 

 

·         The Sr Systems Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, deployment and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure for the Direct Channels development teams.

·         Responsible for analyzing, designing, coding, debugging and documenting automated deployment scripts using Chef, Apache rewrite rules and Akamai system configuration.

·         This individual will assist project teams focusing on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle.

·         Identifies methods, solutions, and provides system support and maintenance to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (Key Activities)

· Deploy, maintain and support development environment system.

· Develop and support appropriate programs and systems documentation per established IT standards.

· Plan, schedule and conduct decision support system tests; monitor test results and take required corrective action.

· Interface with customers and analysts to determine requirements.

· Aid in systems development planning, product performance, support, and monitoring.

· Provide reports on project development status to software engineering management on a regular and timely basis.

· Provide technical consultation in new systems development and enhancement of existing systems; participate in structured walkthroughs and technical reviews.

 

2. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education –

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

 

Experience –

8+ years progressive work related experience in systems administration with demonstrated mastery of technical and business knowledge and understanding of multiple discipline/processes related to the position. Typically leads/mentors less experienced staff.

Technical Skills and Knowledge –

· Demonstrated knowledge of one or more shells: Bourne, BASH, csh, zsh

· Demonstrated knowledge of revision control systems: Subversion,

· Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP networking

· Demonstrated knowledge of Vagrant, Chef

· Demonstrated knowledge of Apache and Rewrite Rules

· Demonstrated knowledge of MySQL

· Demonstrated knowledge of Jenkins build system

· Demonstrated ability to analyze system logs, and troubleshooting skills

· Must possess knowledge of virtualization technologies

· Bonus skills: scripting language such as Python, Perl, or Ruby

· Bonus skills: experience with Akamai, Appdynamics or Keynote

· Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the system administration team's knowledge of the customers' business needs.

· Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.

· Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for providing information to clients, vendors, senior management, and staff.
