Job Description:

Python Engineer

Remote

Duration: 12 months

 

Interview process: Initial video screen - 2 video interviews

 

Visa: USC/GC/EAD

 

Requirements: Python, Hive, & Airflow

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coding in Python. Establishing new microservices and augmenting existing ones. This is primarily a backend services role.
  • Developing new capability with Hive & Airflow
  • Mentor team members on engineering best search indexes practices.
  • Analyze requirements and technical specifications, and implement assigned development tasks using various technologies.
  • Be familiar with the overall software stack and the software components.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies including scrums, sprint planning sessions and sprint reviews.
  • Document all technical design, code, build and release procedures.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA, BS or MS in Computer Science OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of development experience with a high level language like Python
  • 4+ years of experience working with SQL based datastores
  • 3+ years of experience building and deploying REST based API services
  • Must have experience with massively parallel, large scale data processing
  • Experience with a Hive & Airflow

 

Technical Skills:

Deep understanding and proficiency with:

  • Multi server architecture with api based services
  • Parallel task processing at a large scale
  • Solid unit and integration test development to back the fantastic code you write
  • Creating clean PRs and taking part in code reviews.
  • Experience or interest working with the technologies we use (of which some are):
  • Kafka event streaming
  • Asynchronous task queues using Celery (Redis or Rabbit MQ)
  • Postgres (experience with other RDBMS is fine)
  • Django/Nginx/Debian
  • Prometheus/Grafana/ELK Stack (or other service reliability tools)
  • Dockerized containers (Nomad, Consul, Vault)
