Job Description:
SQL/ ETL Developer
Arizona (onsite)
6+ months
USC/GC only
The main purpose of this role is to work alongside team members to
complete time-sensitive work in ETL/ELT, SSIS, DB Development, Stored
Procedures, cloud data transfer and transformations, as well as assist with
day-to-day activities of the Data Services Team, reporting to the Data Manager.
The right candidate will work with a small team to develop, optimize, and
maintain in a multiple data warehouse environment to support client-server
reporting solutions with Microsoft SQL Management Studio. A successful
candidate will be very comfortable working with multiple data sources and
various ETL/ELT tools. An ideal candidate will enjoy finding new and better
ways to process, store, and retrieve data while remaining dedicated to
preserving the quality and completeness of the data being handled. A best
practices zealot will enjoy the challenges and opportunities they create!
Additional understanding of data security, TDE, and data governance best
practices is preferred. Essential work skills include experience with
troubleshooting, proven leadership skills, developing company best
practices based up on industry best practices with a focus on data governance
and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of ETL and ELT data flow processes and frameworks including data extraction from source systems to staging, relational, and dimensional databases using SQL 2016/2019
- Maintain a high level of data quality through ongoing analysis and auditing of all data used in reporting and work with internal customers to ensure timely resolution of data issues
- Work closely with other SQL Developers, BI Developers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers to create and convert business requirements into executable/actionable work items
- Query Tuning: Optimize processes involving large data sets to improve performance
- Analyze execution plans post capturing, Analyze index usage, optimize indexes for workload
- Document designs, solutions, and best practices
- Interface with Associates from all departments within Plain Green, employing a high degree of tact and diplomacy to promote a positive image of Data Services
- Prioritize and manage development tasks
- Respond to ad hoc data and analysis requests as assigned by the manager
Technical Qualifications:
- 8+ years Microsoft database environment development including Integration Services (SSIS)
- Advanced experience with SQL Server (2016/2019), including T-SQL, Query Optimization, SSIS, SQL Agent, functions, indexes, normalization, schemas, stored procedures, CTEs, and triggers
- Experience with Azure SQL and/or AWS products such as Lambda, Athena, Data Exchange, Data Pipeline, CloudTrail, Migration and Transfer tools, and AWS DataSynch
- Previous experience or ability to develop, interpret, and deliver technical specifications
- Previous experience in project implementations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
- Mid-level Excel proficiency
- Familiarity with Power BI, SSRS and/or similar report rapid development tools
- Experience with C#, Python, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience with SOAP UI, WSDLs, APIs
- SSAS, a plus
- File encryption methods, e.g. PGP, GPG, SSH transfers
- SFTP and AWS S3 File transfers
- Understanding of SSRS and Power BI from a data support perspective
