The Manager has an immediate need for a Database 2008 Performance Engineer/Developer. He does not want a DBA for this position. This person should be well versed with SQL Server 2008, Performance Tuning, Optimizing Performance, SQL Queries, Structures, Views and Triggers. This position is all about SQL Performance Analysis/remediation. This is a 3-6 month extendable contract
Database Performance Engineer
Required Skills:
• 3+ years of experience with SQL Server, of which the majority of the time is spent in the area of performance analysis and remediation. This includes index tuning, analyzing SQL Server profiler output, understanding and optimizing execution plans, and identifying and resolving resource contention.
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Skills:
• Ability to review designs and code to recommend modifications that yield improved performance.
• Ability to distill volumes of data, analyze performance results, and diagnose performance problems.
• Ability to clearly characterize system performance to key stakeholders
• Ability to implement performance monitoring to support operational processes.
• Comfortable configuring and interpreting resource usage metrics for physical servers, application servers, or databases.
• Comfortable encountering unfamiliar platforms and assessing their performance.
• Eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
• Desire to work in an information systems environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
