Description/Comment: Summary:
Responsible for coordinating changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems.
Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer programming or relevant field - preferred. 5+ years experience required.
Skills and Competencies:
· Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
· Must have a strong command of the English language written and oral. Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time.
· Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback

· Expert knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to existing databases and database management systems.
· Direct others in coding logical and physical database descriptions. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
· Review and approve database development and determine project scope and limitations.
· Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
· Implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
· Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information. Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY: Briefly describe this position’s primary purpose or role.
The Database Administrator provides operational support for SQL Server and Postgres databases to ensure reliable uptime and appropriate scale and usage of the DB platform investment.
The DBA role will support Application Development and Data Engineering with query tuning, deployments, and new database assets.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The below listed duties are not all inclusive. This position must also perform other duties as assigned.):

Configure database servers and install server software 10%
Create accounts for all users and assign security levels 10%
Monitor and maintain system health and security 25%
Design backup processes for server and associated data 10%
Establish a disaster recovery protocol 5%
Schedule and perform regular server maintenance 10%
Create database management procedures 5%
Evaluate data models, procedures, and queries to provide performance tuning 5%
Collaborate with operations and development teams for DB code deployments and provide on-call off hours support on rotation. 20%
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering 5+ years’ professional experience
· Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory Experience with SQL Server 2012 and higher
· Working experience supporting disaster recovery and database backup procedures
· Familiarity with reporting tools PostgreSQL certification preferred
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance
· Must be able to adapt to shifting priorities and tasks requiring average mental dexterity.
· Able to problem solve by assessing and identifying causes, gathering relevant information and generate possible solutions.
· Ability to cope with stress of a high production position and meet stringent deadlines for completing tasks.
