Position: Application Migration Engineer(WebSphere Application Server)

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Duration: Long term contract

 

High-availability Application Migration to the Enterprise Cloud Platform

Opportunity 2: Assist with migration of high availability applications into the AmEx Enterprise Cloud Platform that is based on OpenShift.
Key Skills: Extremely strong in WAS and WAS ND, basic shell scripting knowledge, and strong Core Java skills.

 

Job Description

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java/J2EE web applications
• Troubleshooting experience on applications hosted on IBM WebSphere Application Server
• Knowledge on JBOSS (nice to have)
• Knowledge on N-tier architecture (understanding of the full ecosystem – IHS, Load balancer, app server, backend)
• Basic understanding on middleware messaging (JMS, MQ)
• Understanding of CI/CD tools like Maven, Jenkins and experience with continuous delivery and agile frameworks
• Hand-on experience with UNIX shell scripting languages (code re-use, functions, comments); perl (nice to have), korn shell, bash shell
• Knowledge on deployment tools (WebSphere 8.x Network Deployment, XL Deploy/Release)
• Should be able to combine technical skills with overall application requirements to implement creative solutions
• Must be an adaptable and self-motivated team player with strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Able to work autonomously as well as collaborating as part of the team
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required, with ability to create and deliver effective solutions on time, and provide accurate project timelines estimates
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or has equivalent work experience
• Has experience in multiple IT disciplines with a proven understanding of architectural concepts (data, technical, and solution), issues, and trends
• Advanced to expert level knowledge and understanding of architecture, applications systems design, and integration, with a detailed understanding of applicable programming methodologies
• Extensive experience using a systems analysis and design methodology, and an excellent understanding of industry trends and tools.
