JOB DESCRIPTION:

·         The Department of Citywide Administrative Services is looking to procure services to redesign our existing agency intranet. The existing site is written using a content management system called Umbraco. We would like to totally revamp the site using Umbraco as the platform.

·         Candidate must be proficient in the most current version of Umbraco, SQL Server, HTML, JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Dreamweaver.

·         Knowledge of MS Visual Studio and MVC is helpful. Good communication (and writing) skills, and the ability to serve as a liaison between the IT Department and its business users.

·         Prior experience with Web design, databases, application development and coding is required. 

 

Responsibilities include:  

Redesign  

·         Navigation Updates

·         Information Architecture: Review and changes to site structure

·         Page Layout: Update to page templates including main home page, category landing pages, article pages and other pages

·         Visual Design: Modernization of overall look and feel

·         Content: Migration of content from old site to new 

 

Technology Upgrade

System Audit:

·         Review all Document Types and identify custom data types.

·         Review installed packages to identify migration path.

·         Review macros and identify migration path

 

CMS Upgrade: Upgrade of existing website developed in Umbraco 4.7.1 version to the latest Umbraco 7.9.2 version 

·         We foresee a running upgrade in phases:

·         From 4.7 to the last 4.x release (4.11)

·         From last 4.x to 6

·         From 6 to 7

·         Project mission and scope

·         Overarching business goals

·         Legal, regulatory and privacy issues

·         Technological rules and restrictions

·         Production and Technical Specifications

·         Copy and Content Document

·         Umbraco CMS configuration and development

·         Content migration/population

 

MANDATORY SKILLS:

·         Most current version of Umbraco

·         HTML + CSS Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator Visual Studio C# SQL Server Adobe Dreamweaver JavaScript

·         MVC

·         Require a staging and production environment.

·         Need knowledge transfer and technical documentation upon completion of the project.

·         Require user and technical support for the site.

·         Excellent communications skills 

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

·         A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a relevant field
