Responsibilities:
• Use system automation technologies such as PowerShell, chef, puppet, Salt or other related tools to create standardized IT environments
• Work closely with cross-departmental teams, specifically IT/Network Operations, to deploy and support hosted production applications to achieve company goals
• Review infrastructure security holes, apply patches, create console roles and reviews, and create and install security packs as needed
• Transfer knowledge via documentation and training to software development organization
• Establish foundation for future implementations and automation requirements in the cloud, identify opportunities for automation and develop scalable solutions
• Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders and participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions
• Develop monitoring, dashboards, escalations and alerts
• Follow incident management and change management processes, create run-books
• Participate in on call rotations for emergency events and escalations
• Work with the Operations team lead to remediate issues
• Utilize verbal and written communication skills to maintain accurate system documentation and provide training as required
• Ability to communicate how to leverage technology to create business value and become more effective and efficient
• Work with project managers and peers to understand and solve challenging technical problems, produce effort estimates, and improve system functionality, reliability and reduce costs
• Work closely with business technology peers and management emphasizing collaboration and joint effort to ensure that the needs and expectations of organizational stake holders, business partners, external customers, and third party organizations are met and/or exceeded
Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience working on the Azure platform
• Embraced IaC and have used ARM templates and Terrraform to deploy on Azure extensively
• Successfully performed rehost/replatform/refactor migration to Azure (ASR or 3rd party tools)
• Experience with native VSTS, DevOps or 3rd party tools like Jenkins, Unicorn, Travis or Git to create CI/CD pipelines
• Expert level understanding of Azure networking: VPN, ExpressRoute, vNet peering, Firewall, NSG, options for geo-redundancy and more
• Solid Configuration Management experience with Automation, Ansible, Puppet or similar
• Development and scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Azure CLI, etc.)
• Sysadmin experience on both Windows and Linux
• High attention to new Azure services and features and deep curiosity about technology and industry trends
• Willingness to stretch into new areas beyond Azure platform
• Some level of experience with AWS is a big plus.
Day to Day:
- The DevOps engineer will be responsible for designing high quality solutions for customers. The candidate should also be a strong developer who is comfortable in taking on any technical challenge or task with confidence and efficiency.
- The candidate will participate in strategic project-planning meetings. In addition to providing guidance and expertise on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefits, the candidate will create and share operational requirements and development forecasts.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and building IT solutions, installing and configuring solutions, implementing reusable components, potentially assist with all stages of test data, developing interface stubs and simulators and perform script maintenance and updates.
