Job Title       : Business Analyst/Java Database Developer.
Job location    : Stamford, CT or NY
Job Duration    : 12 months to start (likely 12 month extension)
Job experience    : 9+ years

Technology is looking for an experienced Java / DB developers with experience in Capital Markets (Fixed Income experience is added advantage). Candidates with Business Analyst mind set or aspiration are preferred. Candidates must have strong Capital Markets domain knowledge with good understanding of financial markets, and products. Front Office (Research/Trade Capture/Position Management,/Pricing,/Risk) exposure will be added advantage.

Work Description

·  Ø  Participate in build out and maintenance of global Data and Analytics infrastructure covering all the asset classes Equities, Rates, FX and Securitized Products

·  Ø  Interact with business to understand their business function and requirements.

·  Ø  Prepare BRD (Business Requirement Document), functional specifications.

·  Ø  Develop new service infrastructure to service market data / analytics to multiple applications globally

·  Ø  Understand Research Databases and systems. Design and improve DB infrastructure (Schema, Indices, etc.) to meet performance needs.

·  Ø  Developing and enhancing data feeds; service APIs (Java), desk user queries for data management as well as working with users across the globe

·  Ø  Follow release and production change procedures and work with other teams to deliver and maintain reliable and functional front-office reference data applications.

·  Ø  Participate in rotational production support activities

·  Ø  Identify, analyse, communicate and resolve application, infrastructure and environmental issues and problems

 

Required Skills

·  Ø  Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering with total of 5+ years of experience.

·  Ø  3+ years of hands-on Java developer experience.

·  Ø  2+ years of hands-on RDBMS (DB2 preferred but not must) developer experience. Solid analytical skills and strong financial securities background.

·  Ø  Knowledge and experience with Equities or Fixed Income Products.

·  Ø  Experience of creating Use cases, BRD, functional specification.

·  Ø  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·  Ø  Ability to cope with rapid front-office development and to respond to and address production situations promptly.

·  Ø  Ability to communicate and act professionally with IT staff and business clients while under strict deadlines.

·  Ø  Ability to work in a team-oriented setting is a definite requirement with strong interpersonal skills

 

Desired Skills

·  Ø  Knowledge of Excel/VBA would be added advantage.

·  Ø  Advanced degree in computer science or engineering is a huge plus.

·  Ø  Perl, Scripting experience is a plus.

·  Ø  Knowledge of Fixed Income products (Credit or Interest rates products) is a huge plus
