Role: GIS System Specialist
Location: New York, NY

Duration: 12 Months

JOB DESCRIPTION:-

CRITICAL KEY REQUIREMENTS:

· A minimum of 7-10 years GIS System Specialist experience

· A minimum 2-3 years working experience with Railroad business

· Minimum 5 years hands-on experience of IT experience in supporting ESRI GIS software, Portal of ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Qualifications EXPERIENCE & eDUCATION

· Minimum 5-10 years as GIS system specialist

· Minimum 5 years of well-rounded business application support & development experience

· Minimum 5 years hands-on experience of IT experience in supporting ESRI GIS software, Portal of ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop

· Minimum of 2-3 years’ working knowledge in Railroad and/or Bus operation

· Minimum of 2-3 years’ hands-on experience with Infor-EAM (Enterprise Asset Management), and/or one of the Bentley product tools

· Ability to modify/adapt systems, software configurations, and programs to meet business requirements.

· Understanding of complex relational database organization, design, and functionality

· Experience in desktop / mobile computer support and troubleshooting software related problems

· Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skill in relating technical information to non-technical personnel
Strong analytical and problem solving skills

· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute in a high-pressure environment

· Ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment; a self-starter

· Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization

SKILLS & Requirements

· Minimum of 5-7 years Software Development experience in one or more of the following languages: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, C#, VB, C++, Python, Java, or Objective-C

· 5+ years of advanced expertise with MS SQL Server / Oracle for versioned enterprise geodatabase

· Experience in configuring/implementing/customizing GIS web viewers

· Experience in administering/configuring/implementing/customizing Portal for ArcGIS

· Experience with IIS configuration including SSL/HTTPS with Reverse Proxy

· Moderate proficiency with Python and ArcPy

· Experience developing RESTful web services

· Experience creating ArcGIS Server geoprocessing services

· Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V virtual server implementation, optimization and management

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Geospatial Technology and Application Development Office with overall Business and System Analysis for technology related initiatives.

· Assist the project team with planning, installing and configuring all required software in the new system environments.

· Oversee routine tests and analyses of specific software components;

· Use software tools and material to diagnose and solve issues

· Resolve problems in compliance with the established procedures;

· Carry out planned project server activities (installations, updates, etc.);

· Contribute to policy and procedure development, recommending changes/additions/deletions to rules and validations

· Assess and manage risk/issues throughout all aspects of the GIS technical upgrade implementation.

· Practice continuous improvement by recommending changes in to IS procedures, standards and processes where improvements have been identified.

· Administer and configure ArcGIS Server

· Deployment and configuration of end user applications which consume ArcGIS Services

· Work in a project team to build and test enterprise GIS project environments TST, QA, PRD, DR

· Experience integrating ESRI with existing enterprise systems using technologies such as ESB and ETL

· Prepare environments for integration testing, UAT, and implementation cutover testing

· Define, design and author project business, functional and technical requirements

· Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation; providing help desk support; training users

· Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

· Develop and maintain technical and standard documentation for program development activity in a timely and high quality manner

· Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures
