Title: Python Developer

Primary Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Duration: Contract Position

 

Job Description:  

Specific Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will be responsible for at least one of the following.  There is no expectation that a candidate will be capable of fulfilling all of these roles, but candidates who demonstrate capabilities in multiple areas will be preferred.  

  • Develop new applications using Python and the Django framework.
  • Support existing applications using Python and the Django framework.

Required Qualifications - Technical:

  • Python
  • Experience in SQL (Oracle SQL, PL/SQL)
  • Working knowledge of basic Linux/UNIX commands

Desired Qualifications - Technical:

  There is no expectation that a candidate will have experience in all of these areas, but demonstrated experience in these areas will be used in ranking candidates.

  • Proficient with Linux / Unix
  • Proficient with Python 2.x or 3.x
  • Familiarity with Django 1.x or Flask
  • Familiarity with Subversion/GIT
  • Familiarity with RESTful web services
  • Familiarity with Couchbase or other NoSQL technologies
  • Familiarity with Proficient in SQL (Oracle SQL, MySQL SQL, PL/SQL, and Data Modeling a plus)
  • Familiarity with Documentation Tools, Visio, Word. Code Documentation skills, examples a plus.
  • Familiarity with Design Patterns

Qualifications Non-Technical:

  • Ability to learn and adapt to a fast paced changing, and challenging environment.
  • Good project and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure when necessary, especially when recovering from system failure or strict timelines. As well as being a very self-motivated, self-directed Team Player.
