Subject: Invitation: In-person meeting with USG to discuss national open government plan

Dear US Open Government Civil Society members,

The Carter Center, in collaboration with the US General Services Administration’s (GSA) Open Government Secretariat, is excited to extend an invitation to your organization for an in-person discussion with other members of US civil society involved in advancing open government principles. Held on the Saturday before the UNCAC Conference of the States Parties (CoSP10) in Atlanta, GA, this gathering will be an opportunity to reflect on the US’s open government efforts to date, as well as to brainstorm and share ideas for our future endeavors.

Date: Saturday, December 9, 2023

Time: 3:00 - 5:00 pm ET

Location: The Carter Center - 453 John Lewis Freedom Pkwy NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

Please RSVP using here: https://forms.office.com/r/5K5bYNYjeA or directly to Laura Neuman at laura....@cartercenter.org. Due to space constraints, we presently can only accept one registration per organization. If there is sufficient room for additional representatives, we will let you know.  If there are relevant US organizations that we may have missed, please feel free to share the invitation with them.

Your expertise and commitment to open governance are invaluable to our collective efforts, and we believe that your participation will greatly enrich the discussion and help us shape a robust and impactful path forward. Topics of discussion will include:

●            A comprehensive look at the findings and recommendations of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Independent Reporting Mechanism (IRM) US 5th Open Government National Action Plan (NAP) Action Plan Report;

●            Priorities, ideas, and vision for the next US NAP

●            Ideas for launching a US Multi-Stakeholder Forum and reinvigorating collaboration between government and civil society.

Please use the registration form to provide input on any other topics you think would be worthwhile to cover, time permitting.

Please RSVP by November 29th.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and we hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Laura
