Thank you for the message! Sorry for any crosspost.

I encourage the U.S. government to take bold action reclaim global leadership this OpenGovWeek with ambitious actions that proportionate to need & directly responsive to national challenges around good governance and to Congressional mandates, including:

1) revising US open government commitments for OpenGovWeek, as the OGP IRM recommended:

2) announcing a slate of additional commitments for NAP 5.5 aligned with the themes in the OpenGovChallenge:
https://www.opengovpartnership.org/the-open-gov-challenge/ and the priorities of US civil society:
https://groups.google.com/g/us-open-government/c/7IK7pZT6ppE as the Obama White House repeatedly did. (As a reminder, “National Action Plans are intended to be living documents,” not static reports:

3) announcing that all federal agencies subject to the Open Government Directive will co-create open government plans for 2024-2026 with stakeholders & advisory boards this year, from DHS:

Dear Open Government community,

We are thrilled to share that Open Government Week is fast approaching and will be held during the last week of May! This is a fantastic opportunity for all of us to celebrate and promote transparency, accountability, and public participation in government.

We encourage everyone in our network to consider getting involved by hosting your own events. Whether it’s a workshop, seminar, public meeting, or other activity, all are welcome to showcase the diversity of efforts surrounding open government within the United States. You can post your events on the official website, https://opengovweek.org/, to share with the global community, and we encourage you to monitor the U.S.-specific page for any activities you might want to join.

Additionally, we’re excited to share that the U.S. federal government will also host a special virtual event during this week, on Wednesday, May 29, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM EDT. Details will follow soon, and we promise it will be an informative experience that you won’t want to miss!

Thank you for your commitment to open government, and let’s look forward to an inspiring week!

Best regards,

U.S. Open Government Secretariat
