In a letter posted to the OGP website that has not been promoted on social media, Open Government Partnership CEO Aidan Eyakuze claimed to our coalition that OGP will be a “steadfast partner to US civil society.”

I am skeptical, after a decade of former CEO Sanjay Pradhan keeping critiques of US government off the main stage at OGP Summits, openwashing official secrecy, refusing to place our government under review & keep it there, despite repeatedly “acting contrary to process” amid escalating corruption, secrecy, and lies, & allowing the USG to remain on the Steering Committee throughout 2025.
I’ve asked OGP to signal boost US NGOs promoting reforms to the Freedom of Information Act, whistleblower protections, open data, & restoring anti-corruption programs, policies, & personnel this Sunshine Week. If they don’t, draw your own conclusions about what their “support” means, & for whom.
