Hello All,
During the April meeting we saw an overview of the co-creation plan for developing the 5th Open Government National Action Plan. That plan is now posted
online here. This marks the beginning of the 2 weeks notice as defined by the OGP standards before the co-creation process officially begins.
We will have another
public meeting on May 19th at 3pm ET which will coincide with Open Government Week. This meeting will provide more details about the opportunities for input during the initial "outreach" phase of the co-creation process.
My understanding is that much of the purpose in providing the plan with 2 weeks of notice before co-creation begins is to ensure people have visibility and clear expectations of the process before it begins. I hope that this serves that purpose, but the broader intent of the initial phase of the co-creation process is to do the outreach and research to bring together the people and ideas to make this a successful process that develops a meaningful plan. That endeavor is underway now, but it will continue beyond these two weeks and much of it will happen by doing outreach and building relationships the old fashioned way - by reaching out to individuals and organizations, explaining what this is all about, and understanding how we can advance open government in a way that addresses the problems they are focused on.
Some of this outreach will be visible in these public online forums, but much of it will be through one on one conversations. With that framing, I'd like to invite you to help make these connections and spur these conversations, either by suggesting people and organizations we can bring into the process here on the mailing list or by emailing me directly.
Best,
Phil
